The one you have is legit. I’ve been part of the Nikon fam since 2014. I currently have the old Nikon dslr 5100, and I sold my Nikon 7100 2 years ago. They have great af-s lenses.
That 35 mm you have is a great start for portrait, and macro to a degree.
Try perfecting the bokeh effect.
