What people mad about today?

Niggas gonna pretend like she ain't at a Caribbean themed carnival

I wonder if its Cultural Appropriation when African Americans are also dressed like this even tho don't have any blood ties to an island....
And the convo ensues.... in defense of the white woman lol. You can't compare what we do to what white people do. Apples and orange

But thats my gripe, not Adele specifically. Why do negroes like the original tweeter feel the need to defend white people in situations like this when you can just as easily stay out of it/stay neutral? Where does that energy come from?

First, I was outta it. You replied to me. 2x

Secondly, you wasting energy and time fighting on a stupid hill. If its Cultural Appropriation, keep that same energy for everyone. You don't need to hide ya hate behind this thinly veiled attempt at preserving West Indian culture bruh lol

You are as bad as the ppl you hate. If this was Ashanti this topic wouldnt exist right? We call it hypocrisy where I'm from

ehhhh... I dont really give a shit about this lol.

Now if she came out and tried to rebrand it and call the hairstyle some white shit like it's brand new.. I could see folks being justified in taking offense. That's not what's happening here tho.

*shrugs*

how quickly black folks from all over got at each other about this is disturbing/disappointing tho

All I’m saying is, when I went to Jamaica there was a gang of old Jamaican ladies lined up on the beach to braid the hair of white women and get them beaded up. Why should I be more outraged than them?

What are we doing here
A convo

Tis true. I figured u were referring to that but I didn't get how that equates to the whole culture going up for sale.

Honestly bruh, sometimes...it just ain't that deep. Or as deep as you're tryna make it. Maybe they just see something they think is stupid - like people getting at Adele over her hair and outfit - and chime in because they think it's stupid. The shit ain't always 'I'm gonna defend this white woman against people of my race'. Sometimes its just 'Yeah, this is dumb as fuck. Let me explain that this is dumb as fuck.'

Niggas wanna make EVERYTHING that is said by EVERY PERSON at EVERY MOMENT as some sort of referendum on their thoughts on race relations and shit. Lol. It ain't always that.

Y'all niggas are gonna drive yourself crazy.

The Bantu knots or the Jamaican clothes. Cuz all black people cool with our hair. But I do remember awhile back Africans online didn’t like when we wore certain African garments because we didn’t know what it meant or who it represented. I never heard Caribbean’s complain about that tho because I think we dress the same overall

How tho? White people dont get mad when Irish folks dress like Italians tho. The other race part is the issue. Ashanti can wear a native headless without catching flack but nobody gonna say she dressed like an African Queen that’s appropriation.

Why y’all do that? It’s not worth a conversation why?
She's at a Caribbean Carnival.....dressed in a Caribbean flag wear....with her hair twisted in a Caribbean style....

If this was Ashanti would this conversation exist?
