What are things you don’t see anymore in hip hop?

While yes things have changed, there are artists doing a lot of the things you all are talking about.

The difference is that more artsy, lyrical,or alternative hip hop doesn't get the push it used to,but it was never the most popular genre in rap as a whole.

There are some Younger/newer rappers who actually do have bars and are super creative.

Also there are plenty "Posse cuts".I feel like artists might collab more now since a lot are indie or semi indie

Kanye is dropping an album of posse cuts.

A DJ rocking a beat back and forth on two turntables while the MCs rap live while the DJ is mixing.

- dancing and having choreographed dancers, man MC Hammer is by far one of the most entertaining artists I've ever witnessed in Hip-Hop

- conceptual songs like Tupac's "Me and My Girlfriend" or Styles P's "Nobody Believes Me"

- remixes maaaaaaaaaannnnn when was the last time you heard a true remix ?

- R&B singers clutching their chests to hit higher notes

Towards your 1st point it would be hard to argue that despite what some may feel about their music usually the quality of women rappers live shows are better than male rappers in terms of presentation and actual dancers and such

I remember on the IC some years ago, arguing with people that I'd rather go to a Nicki Minaj or Chris Brown concert instead of a Rick Ross or Jay-Z show. I said that cuz 99% of their fans are women and backstage is gonna be maaad hoes and the performers will be great. Jay-Z and Ross gonna hold their crotch and walk up and down the stage with low energy, plus all their fans in the crows and backstage are niggas. Yeah no thanks !

Niggas were calling for my modship to be revoked smh.
You might get shot, stabbed or robbed at the end of a chris or nicki show.

The rapper DJ combo.
Like dj jazzy jeff and the fresh prince, eric b and rakim, kool g rap and DJ polo, guru and premo

Or just scratching in general. When's the last time you heard a song with a DJ scratching the chorus?

It happened in the early/mid 90s. The industry figured out that a lot of people don't care for scratching, and chanting a chorus, or having a girl sing the chorus appeals to a broader audience. Also, there's copyright issues with scratching somebody else's record.

Depends what u go to a particular show for. Are u there to listen to good hip hop or just catch a vibe n holla at some girls.

What I don't see in hip hop anymore, is a GREAT mainstream female MC w actual bars and songs w substance. A la Lauryn Hill and Eve. Shit is like the unicorn of rap. But I miss randomly hearing that type of music on the radio or seeing it get attention. Eve- love is blind was refreshing when it came on radio n so was "that thing" by Lauryn.
