What Are They Doing Wrong

They have kids and a shitty accountant and they give more to charity (including a college that they're still paying off a loan from) than they take home.

/thread

The money they're spending on the house by itself could buy a nice ass house in the majority of the country free and clear in 3 years.
Buy a pair of nice, but older cars outright.
No way childcare should cost that damned much.
Stop throwing away money to charity.
Kids activities don't cost that fuckin much. I had three daughters in ballet, one of which was also in damned near every sport her high school had for girls, amd my son was in Karate and we wasn't spending anywhere close to that much.
Three vacations for four shouldn't cost that much either. Where the fuck you going that costs $6000 a pop??? You could take one dope ass vacation out of the country every year and save the rest of that loot for something else.

Word. Basically they're living like rich people and surprised that that actually costs money.

3 vacations is excessive and the kids dont need all those extra lessons outside of school

they're blessed so I wont discredit them for 2 nice vehicles and and nice home ( would have been better not to finance the cars but thats what we got here lol)...i'll even let them be on childcare b/c everybody wants their children in the best care

scrap the charity bill and start tithing.....help local needs with what you can

if they were perfect, yes they should have paid that student loan debt off before they got into that house.....but I wouldnt say to scrap it at this point, assuming they've already paid years of interest and fees.....just let some of that extra shit go

I cant say they doing anything wrong. They living their lives

But me and my wife dont make that much and we save more a year than them

This has to be some NYC/SanFran/Silicon Valley/Chicago/LA bullshit for that house to cost so fuckin much.

Out here you gettin 4000+ sq/ft for just under $500K, same for Phoenix. In Tha D you can see anywhere from 4000-7000 sq/ft in upper class Boston Edison district for that same $500K. Shit, you can drop that down to 300K and get a similar sized house in Houston and ATL. Where the fuck these people living where they gotta have a house costing a mil and a half???

Idk if they doing anything wrong.

36k(plus whatever each ones job matches) a year goes into their retirement so theyll easily be comfortable when they retire.
They're living in a 1.5 mil house.
They're driving nice cars.
They're taking 3 vacations a year and travelling.
Their kids seem to be well taken care of.
They have life insurance.

Now if they werent taking care of their kids and werent putting money in the 401k, id say something is terribly wrong.

But at the rate they are putting money in the 401k, they will have over 5 mil easy in rerirement.

So they living in a nice house, driving nice cars, im assuming their kids are well taken care of at that price, plus they are getting to travel and taking care of retirement.

Sounds like the american dream to me.

Also they not just saving 7k, the money in their 401k is considered savings too. So between the 32k they are putting in their 401k, plus their jobs matching, they are probably putting away 45k + the 7 they get left over.

I would personally do things a bit different, but I cant see no real issues with what they are doing.
