So I've done a lotta thinking about this....

And Michael had to. Especially with the way he carried things in the first movie and the kinda moves he made. Michael chose a life that was always going to alienate him.. He was never going to really have friends or anyone super close to him. He was always going to be in Don mode.

The only reason Fredo stayed alive as long as he did was cuz their mom was alive...but as soon as she was gone... Fredo had to go.

1. Fredo was a complete liability. He fucked up several times. He was partially at blame for the attempt on vito. He was getting slapped up by moe Green making the family look bad. And he almost got Mike and his family clipped.

2. Anybody else fuck up the rest Fredo did, consistently, would have been clipped. And EVERYBODY knew it. That kinda talk makes Mike look weak, and he wasn't in the position to look weak. It was literally his life on the line. It he would kill his own brother, nobody is really safe.

3. Fredo would have fucked up again. Don't know how, but he deeply resented Mike for being over him. Even if he was banished from the family business, the kinda jealousy doesn't disappear, and it would have surfaced way more disrespectfully with their mom gone. Mike would have to prolly lose his shit in public to deal with him next time
Which again would make him look emotional and weak.

So naw, he took his brother out on business, and Fredo brought that shit on himself.
