Vince McMahon Retires

CNBC has a source that said the quiet part out loud (emphasis mine):

The CEO role is staying in the family. McMahon’s daughter, Stephanie McMahon, will take over as interim chairwoman and CEO. Stephanie McMahon said in May that she was pulling back from the bulk of her duties as a WWE executive to spend more time with her family. The appointment is a signal that the power structure wouldn’t change even as Vince McMahon steps back, according to the person familiar with the matter.

CNBC has a source that said the quiet part out loud (emphasis mine):

I think folks didn't care about the McMahon NAME still being at the helm. It was more about VINCE. A lot of our gripes was geared towards him and his control.

Hopefully we see significant, POSITIVE change wit Steph as interim. They need it. Start with creative.

As you might imagine, the news that Vince McMahon is (at least temporarily) stepping down as CEO and Chairman of the Board for WWE has resulted in a LOT of mainstream media attention, including stories on CNN, Deadline.com, NBC News, ESPN, The New York Timesand many, many more. Interestingly, many of them have seemed to miss that McMahon would be remaining in his role as head of the company's creative.

Vince McMahon has not yet arrived at tonight's Smackdown taping, but it is early in the day, so that's not unusual.

There are a lot of people in the company waiting to see what happens today when McMahon appears "in character" on Smackdown tonight and what, if anything, he'll be able to say about the investigation. We've heard from a few in the company who felt McMahon appearing tonight in the wake of the investigation was "right on point for Vince McMahon" as he's always bucked any sort of authority infringing upon him but others have scratched their head about the decision. Obviously, with everyone talking about McMahon, it's designed to be a ratings ploy and to get everyone watching and talking about the company. Whether it's a wise idea, we'll only know in hindsight.

We've spoken to a few Raw talents who actually wish they were actually working the taping as there had been whispers yesterday that McMahon would be privately addressing the troops, something we have not been able to confirm. Some talents feel McMahon will just act as if it's another taping on the road and "not sell" anything. Some are waiting to see whether Stephanie McMahon is present, but others don't believe she'll be there in person.

For those who have asked, we have not heard whether John Laurinaitis will be present at tonight's taping in Minneapolis. That is a big question the talents have been asking since official text messages from the company are usually signed with Laurinaitis' name but the announcement of the investigation was not accompanied by any signature.

I am assuming that yall mean Hunter would be perfect to takeover creative? Cause there is 0 chance he would be tapped to takeover as CEO.

I'm looking at Nick Khan on the business side and Paul Heyman on the creative side.

Please let the board permanently remove Vince from the company.

Please let Heyman become head of creative.

Lol

I knew this day would eventually come I’m surprised it took this long Vince McMahon been on some fuck shit. Trust me he about to get hit with at lease like 50 more lawsuits

If you didn't know Vince McMahon was under investigation and had "voluntarily" stepped down from as the WWE Chairman and CEO, you wouldn't have figured it out by being backstage at today's Smackdown taping in Minneapolis. Despite the last several days, McMahon was "joking around" during the production meeting before the taping and wasn't selling anything at all, described to PWInsider.com by multiple sources as being in a "great mood."

We are told there was nothing addressed or discussed by McMahon in regard to the allegations thus far today at the tapings. There had been whispers among some in the company yesterday that he would address the troops. As of 4 PM this afternoon, that has not happened.

The pre-show meetings were described by several sources as a "weird", given the obvious elephant in the room, especially since no one in the company knows when more will surface about the situation. Privately, some were wondering how many NDAs were uncovered during the investigation and how many others could be out there. Obviously, no one was asking McMahon about the situation.

Despite the fact that WWE announced McMahon would be appearing on tonight's Friday Night Smackdown broadcast on FOX, we are told nothing was discussed about the segment during pre-show meetings, treating it almost as if the segment wasn't part of the show. So, there is absolutely no hint at what might be stated tonight based on production-related meetings, but that may be by design to prevent potential leaks.

John Laurinaitis is not at tonight's Smackdown taping in Minneapolis, which is not a surprise, given his inclusion in the allegations.

It's prolly gonna be all serious

.
But I pray for wacky 🙏🏿
