Ya'll are exaggerating the significance of the Meg shit. Kamala lost way more support when she refused to outright say that she would stop supplying Israel with the means to commit the genocide or when she let Liz Cheney campaign for her. She lost a lot of support off those two moves because guess what? Most people in the democratic base don't want to support genocide or Republican policies. They didn't want Trump, but they also didn't want a female Bush in blackface. Those people didn't necessarily vote for Trump, but they chose not to vote for Kamala. We can't just ignore that. We all agree that everybody should have voted for a mildewed sock over Trump, but one day Trump will be gone.

The only way we'll avoid another Trump is if both the voters and politicians learn their lessons.

Bruh you are vastly overestimating the intelligence of the US populace. To get elected you have to do dumb shit for dumb people.

All we can do is hope that the person elected by the dumb people doesn’t destroy the country like Trump is doing now.

So when you have a Kamala vs. Trump you can’t stand on “well she had Meg tweaking on stage” because the alternative is way worse.

Get out of your feeling homie. I didn't say you couldn't have an opinion on American politics. We were the world's sole superpower. Everyone is free to have an opinion about America's politics. I said you don't know shit about American politics, and you don't outside of "Trump is bad." It's all good. Most Americans don't know anything about politics here outside their own feelings.

It's not about where you're from. America's been spiraling this direction for decades. Obama and Trump both ran on changing the status quo and were attracted strong bases even though they both lied. People don't want the same ole same ole anymore. If you can't understand that a major reason why Hillary and Kamala lost to a bozo like Trump is that both literally came out and said that they didn't want to change much about the standard way things are done, then your opinion doesn't mean anything. Your level of thinking on the matter isn't any deeper than the average MAGA voter. The only difference is you're smart enough to recognize an obvious conman when you see one.

No, you just want to go with the vogue of "Everyone in America is dumb, so it's ok for politicians to be dumb." It makes no sense for you to simultaneously make that statement while also acknowledging that people were tired of the dumb shit.

And no one is saying it was ok to choose Trump over Kamala because of Meg, so please stop saying that dumb shit. The election is over. Trust me, it won't get any worse by acknowledging that Kamala made some missteps, but it might make things better in the future if we start pushing now for our candidates next time to do better.

We get it, almost half the people in the country were idiots for voting for Trump, and many of those idiots are suffering and rightfully so. We can keep saying that from now until infinity. I never said people were tired of the dumb shit. That’s what you said and that’s where your logic fails. The average American voter loves the dumb shit or else Trump wouldn’t be president now. People didn’t vote for Kamala for dumb reasons and people voted for Trump for dumb reasons. And I’m sure there were dumb reasons people did the vice versa of that.

I do say Americans are dumb a lot though, but let me restate that a lot of Americans are dumb when it comes to politics and civics, as you yourself admit. They vote (or don’t vote) on single issues or vibes. They are either disinterested or have more pressing life issues so they don’t form nuanced political opinions. Good luck getting them to do any real research and fact checking beyond what they see on social media.

That said, the root cause to Trump winning was not Kamala’s missteps. It was racism (both ways), misogyny, dumb logic, misinformation, disinformation, and a slew of other contributing factors.

No it didn't because I wasn't saying this during the election. I was saying "Whatever we do we can't let Trump win."

Again, the election is over. Now is the time to point out mistakes made last time around so they aren't made again next time. I'm not sure what's so hard to comprehend about that. Maybe, let's not pick a candidate for the general election that gets on the public stage and says "I would have attacked Iran too." That's basically the equivalent of what Kamala did and ya'll on here acting like the Meg shit was what sunk her.

You're just wrong about that. The dumb shit is not what swayed the public. I've already pointed that out. Trump had a cult that were going to vote for him not matter what. Kamala had a shakier base. She lost steam when she didn't denounce the genocide, let Cheney campaign for her, and stopped talking about her better propositions like pushing for policies to stop companies from price gouging. That's when she actually dropped in the polls. People literally cited those as the reasons they weren't voting for her. So an we stop acting like the 5 coons whining about dumb shit were the ones that made the difference when most of those coons were probably living in Red states that Kamala wouldn't have won anyway.

Were the reasons people cited significant enough to allow Trump to become president? No election happens in a vacuum. If she were against a better republican candidate then maybe their reasons would have mattered more. But in the 2024 election, they shouldn’t have.

Not denouncing the genocide? The opposition welcomed it and escalated it.

Cheney campaigning for her? Look at the ranks of people that campaigned for Trump and those he put in his cabinet.

The proposals she made? They didn’t just vanish, she still maintained those.

So given that, what made people vote for the clear threat? Or not vote allowing that threat to take power?

That’s what I mean by dumb shit. You see the threat and say “well I don’t like x, y, z” when the alternative is miles worse.
