Breaking News US and Israel War Against Iran

With oil shooting above $100 a barrel, markets in Asia reacted with alarm when trading opened on Monday. Stocks fell 5 percent in Japan and over 7 percent in South Korea. The economies of both countries are exposed to heavy dependencies on imported oil and gas.

Democrats seized on a surge in oil prices on Sunday, arguing that it was an immediate consequence of the war in Iran that would inflame an affordability crisis, as Republicans sought to downplay the data.

“We’ve been saying for months that affordability is the No. 1 issue,” Representative Tom Suozzi, Democrat of New York, said in an interview. “But this is a very real-life consequence of some of the actions being taken by the administration.”

Several senior Senate Democrats said Sunday that they were “horrified” by reports that the U.S. may have carried out the Feb. 28 strike that hit an elementary school in Iran and killed at least 175 people, many of them children. They raised concern over Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s “openly cavalier approach to the use of force” and called for a full and impartial investigation to “provide clear answers to the American public and Congress.”

Senators Brian Schatz of Hawaii, Patty Murray of Washington, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, Jack Reed of Rhode Island, Mark Warner of Virginia and Chris Coons of Delaware signed the statement.

Lol @ Israel making everything worse for Trump

The U.S. is concerned Israeli strikes on infrastructure that serves ordinary Iranians could backfire strategically, rallying Iranian society to support the regime and driving up oil prices.

Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters, which oversees the military operations, warned Saturday that if attacks on Iran's oil infrastructure continue, Tehran may respond with similar strikes across the region.

Iran so far hasn't targeted regional fuel and energy infrastructure and threatened that if Iran does, oil prices could hit $200 a barrel.

Folks.....$200 a a barrel would DOUBLE what you pay for gas. Trump would jump off the White House lol.

Oil prices have retreated considerably from the highs they reached overnight. Brent crude, the international benchmark, was trading at about $103 a barrel on Monday morning, down from a high of almost $120. But energy analysts remain concerned that without a clear path to restarting shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, prices could rise again. “With no clear definition of what winning looks like, it is hard to forecast whether this will be a multi-week or multi-month conflict,” analysts at RBC Capital Markets wrote on Sunday.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer of Britain once again defended his decision not to participate in strikes directly against Iran, even as President Trump has mocked him for it. Starmer said the relationship between the US and Britain is strong, noting that “intelligence is being shared every day in the region. We have our military personnel and US military personnel co-located in the same places, in the same bases.”
