Attack other countries in the area which heightens security, increase risk of the flow of oil(Petrodollar), Oil prices go past sustainable levels into economic crisis territory as the US is not prepared to withstand as they would face a recession at home while funding a war aboard for another country at that. US can’t stretch their military might so far and protect all interests in the area so they would have to pick and choose who gets the protection which historically has never bode well.
