COMMUNITY United States Politics Thread: Trump's Second Term

I think it's safe to question the intelligence of anybody who voted for and supports this

To be fair, he was referring to them hiring millions of federal employees. Not saying he’s right,

I'll go along and say that the Dems take the midterms. Do you think with the Dems taking the midterm will earn them new voters?

I see it, if they take the middies, Trump is going to further embarrass them, or bully them and mess over them even more so or he's going to play nice and give the American people what they want and take all the credit and have the Dems kissing his ass.

I'm not sure how you all think the Dems taking the middies is somewhat a win for you all.
Moving the convo here

New voters for what? Your first line makes no sense. If they take the midterms then they take those seats. If they take the house and senate then trump is handcuffed and can't do all the crazy shit he's been doing. They'll likely impeach him again and hopefully get a conviction this time

Maga losing the midterms is absolutely a win. I honestly don't know how you think it's not

If the Dems take the middies, what will the Dems be able to pass that will benefit the American people? I guess you can say you can have the Dems to stop Trump from doing crazy stuff but what will the Dems pass that will benefit the American people that Trump hasn't already so call covered?

He's already spoke about passing out checks, He's already spoken about folks getting refunds on their income tax etc.

To me, it's like Trump has said some things out loud that's going to help the people on a surface level if the Dems take the middies or not, which again, will revert back to Trump having a W.

What happens if the Dems doesn't win the middies?

It's deeper (to me) than folks wanna realize it. The Dems win the middies, and they push for ICE to be abolished, etc. It gets in the press that the Dems want illegals to stay....is that a W for the Dems?

I'm saying ICE because that's what the average voter will key in on....again, most voters are surface level voters...and many on this board think this way about voters so lets not change it up and say that folks are smart? No.

let's keep it in the same wave on how yall view most voters.... Do you think that's a win for the Dems?

That's literally the win. Stopping trump from doing anymore harm

I'd be amazed if dems don't take over for the midterms. I honestly can't fathom it

We'll see.
Just a few things maga has done that dems should be reminding the people for midterms. I asked AI to make a list

Reproductive Rights & Personal Liberty

The VA Abortion Ban (Finalized Aug 2025): Rescinded the rule allowing VA facilities to provide abortion counseling and services. It forbids coverage even for veterans who are victims of rape, incest, or whose health is at risk.

The Comstock Act Weaponization: The DOJ issued a memorandum stating that mailing "instruments or drugs" intended for abortion is a federal crime, creating a "de facto" national ban in states that rely on mail-order medication.

Defunding Planned Parenthood (OBBB Act): Included a one-year provision that strips Medicaid eligibility from Planned Parenthood. This has forced the closure of rural clinics that provided non-abortion services like cervical cancer screenings.

Rescinding HIPAA Protections: A June 2025 court ruling (backed by the administration) vacated rules that protected the privacy of patients traveling out-of-state for abortions, allowing local law enforcement to subpoena their medical records.

IVF & "Personhood" Legal Threats: The administration’s support for federal "personhood" language has chilled IVF treatments in several states, as clinics fear prosecution for the disposal of non-viable embryos.

Foreign Policy & "Arctic Tensions"

The Venezuela Operation (Jan 2026): U.S. forces captured Nicolás Maduro in a military operation. President Trump announced the U.S. would "run" Venezuela and its oil industry, with $2 billion in crude sales currently being "controlled by the President" rather than the Treasury.

The Greenland Annexation Demands: The administration issued a formal ultimatum to Denmark to negotiate the sale of Greenland, stating that "military options are always on the table" for national security interests.

Ukraine "Forensic Audit" Freeze: Halted all lethal aid to Ukraine, leading to the 28-point "Peace Plan" that critics say amounts to a forced surrender of Ukrainian territory to Russia.

Mexico "Drone Strike" Authorization: Designated Mexican cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs), authorizing the use of the military to strike "drug assets" inside Mexican territory without a formal declaration of war.

Economy & The "MAGA Sales Tax"

Reciprocal Tariff Act (The 25% Baseline): Imposed an across-the-board 25% tariff on most imports. Democrats are campaigning on the "Trump Inflation" of 2026, noting that the price of daily goods (coffee, electronics, cars) has risen by 15-20% since the tariffs took effect.

ACA Subsidy Expiration (Jan 2026): Refused to renew the enhanced premium subsidies, causing monthly healthcare costs for 20 million Americans to spike by an average of $800 per year.

The Social Security Funding Gap: While eliminating the tax on Social Security benefits, the administration did not provide a replacement revenue stream, moving the "insolvency date" up to 2030.

DOGE Budget "Rescissions": The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) used the Rescissions Act of 2025 to permanently cut $2.1 trillion in authorized spending, including school lunches and rural hospital subsidies.

Justice & Transparency (The Epstein Files)

Epstein Transparency Act Non-Compliance: Despite a bipartisan law requiring the release of all Jeffrey Epstein records by Dec 19, 2025, the DOJ has withheld over 99% of the files, citing "common-law privileges."

Pardoning FACE Act Convicts: In his first 100 days, Trump pardoned 23 activists convicted of using violence or blockades to shut down reproductive health clinics.

Schedule G (The Civil Service "Purge"): Reclassified 50,000 career experts (from the EPA, FDA, and DOJ) as "at-will," replacing them with political appointees.

Education & Public Health (The MAHA Agenda)

Federal Ban on Gender-Affirming Care: An executive order withdrew all federal funding (Medicaid/ACA) for gender-affirming care and banned transgender people from serving in the military.

Title IX "Biological Truth": Redefined Title IX to strictly define sex as male or female at birth, effectively ending protections for LGBTQ+ students in public schools.

School Choice Tax Credits: Diverted $51 billion from public school funding into a federal "tax credit" for private school tuition.

The Fluoride & Vaccine "Pause": Ordered a federal "review" of fluoride in drinking water and redirected NIH funding away from mRNA research toward "alternative health" studies.
