You at a PWI just go to a HBCU where you’re celebrated

One of my close friends son is going to a HBCU and I had talk with him telling him this is the best route for the type of young man he is
 
Also. NOBODY is stopping us from celebrating with just us.

So that entire situation makes no sense

Bruh the university used to allow them to gather on campus and use university resources. They can still celebrate but can’t use the university services. That’s the issue.

And as much as I love HBCU’s, they not holding a candle to the education and resources Harvard provides. And that’s not a knock, there’s not a lot of PWI’s that can’t either.

Damn didn’t think so many of y’all would be against this. They actually let any group of minority students do it.

And Harvard let it happen before because they respected diversity and if a group wanted to coordinate it themselves and use university services they allowed it.

Now Trump is forcing universities to reverse those policies.

I'm not against it per se. I just don't see the point of it. Of all the things Trump had done, this ranks way at the bottom IMO.

It’s just another attack on black people directly and another case of Trump attempting to control academic institutions.

And it’s a slippery slope. Universities typically have a lot of black only, Hispanic only, etc. clubs, groups, or events. What happens when they say black fraternities or sororities practice illegal and immoral discrimination. Or HBCU’s practice it.

They've already been attacking special interest groups at universities, and I'm against that.

University sponsored graduations for individual races shouldn't really be a thing, so sorry, I really don't care if those go away.
 
I mean is there a collective graduation that everyone still attends and these are separate and distinct celebrations?

If so I dont see what the problem is. You have things like the black student union and things like that where they coordinate their own events.. whats the problem?
 
HBCUs exist. If you want a black focused graduation, go to one of them. Why are you going to Harvard and then expecting a black only graduation. That just seems stupid to me.

That said, my opinion may not mean much. I had an offer from Harvard but went to FAMU in part because they took me to the Set and showed me all that black T&A.

So you bypassed a superior education for some black T&A?

And why do y’all keep saying go to a HBCU, as if there’s one nearly as comparable to Harvard? You going to trade out 4 years of superior education for a one day event?

It’s disturbing y’all see no issue with cutting a tradition specifically for and by black people that attend Harvard. Do y’all just not like Harvard and have a natural disdain for people that go there?

HBCUs ain’t Ivy League. Every other group in America does things the way they want. We can too. We not in the plantation anymore

These niggas confuse me everyday. Why is it when black people want to do something for ourselves it’s an issue. Latinos and Asians probably do their own thing but not complaints

This ain't about permission. It's about something that was previously established being taken away and now they have to find another way to hold the event without that resource. It literally said the organizers were looking for a way to still have the event
