COMMUNITY United States Politics Thread: Trump's Second Term

That exchanged happened during the trial, before he got nominated by the RNC. My point then was that there was a lot of distractions within the entertainment industry while Trump's takeover was formulating itself (K Dot/Drake, Puff, Katt Williams, etc). While the trial was happening, Trump said he was gonna do everything he's doing now if he became president. I had convos outside of this site telling ppl what was happening, and it was either met with disbelief or pushback. I decided to withdraw my vote when the RNC nominated a man that was found guilty of paying to hide damaging info with campaign money and was actively trying to close cases where he was accused of even more heinous election related crimes. What was ABW doing during this time? Crip walking to pedophile bars and shitting on FBA and posters like @Disanthrope for criticizing the Dems' incompetence that allowed that man to seize power. I voted in 2016 to stop that man from obtaining that power the first time tho I didn't trust Clinton, and my vote was wasted because a majority of this country wanted to see what it was like if a WWE Hall of Famer ran their government. Now, 8 years later when the ideologies of a growing white supremacist minority are becoming mainstream and terms like "woke" and "DEI" are derogatory terms for non-white Christian males, I'm supposed to take time out of my Tuesday to help stop a man from destroying a country that literally begged for their destruction... again?

Pathetic.

This is why some ppl gravitated towards Trump and his nonsense

That's not just Trump. That's pretty much how every Republican gets elected. When Bush Sr. was running it was Willie Horton. They always take isolated and extreme cases of something, lie and say those cases are the norm, and then use them to scare their dumbass constituents into believing the world is going to end if they don't vote Republican. Then their dumbass constituents vote Republican, the Rep gets into office, and proceeds to screw most of their base over. It's pretty much the same thing every voting cycle. The younger generation is starting to see through that shit. That's why the Reps are plussing up their voter manipulation tactics with the gerrymandering and voter ID shit.

I don’t even know what the context of this conversation was or with this has to do with Kendrick Lamar and Drake
My bad, I didn't post your original comment.

i’m not even gonna cap I didn’t find that song was bad and I thought Kendrick was gonna have to fight again.

Also I didn’t thoroughly break down the lyrics because I was doing something when the song dropped.

I didn’t catch the nuances of Drake sounding defeated and basically calling it quits until I really listened.

He did that troll thing I thought that maybe his fans in the Internet would say that because he fooled Kendrick “allegedly” that he won this battle because one of the verses is dedicated to an imaginary daughter . I did not know that it was about to be a landslide in favor of Kendrick.

It would be kind of stupid for Drake to supposedly give Kendrick false information about Ozempics or however you spell it and a fake daughter to be turned into angles to go against him .

Something bout this shit fishy
I replied to that with a smart ass comment about the beef being a distraction from the sociopolitical landscape at the time, and that's where our thread started. Keep in mind that was before Trump got nominated by the RNC. My thing was, a lot was going on at the time and we could only pay attention to so much. The Drake/K Dot thing was irrelevant to me, but it held my interest enough for me to realize we were being played. I still feel like the Black community was sold a lot of mindless entertainment while Trump and the GOP was plotting to take over the gov't.

Speaking of Kendrick and my issues on his side of the beef... he's usually known for his sociopolitical commentary, especially in current times. His voice was never more powerful than during that beef. He said nothing about the election, nothing about the corruption of Trump and the politicians he had in his pocket, and nothing about the pushing of negative commentary on the social progression of non Christian white males... at least nothing as prevalent as the Drake disses. Then when he gets to perform in front of Trump, what does he do? Have Samuel L Jackson dress like Uncle Sam and throws subs at the American gov't while saying Drake's name with his entire chest. Not even a criticism on the SB performance, I loved what he did. But Kendrick had the opportunity to let his voice be heard at the height of his popularity and speak to the ppl that have been actively trying to tear down the foundation he himself helped build. Unfortunately, he like Biden/Harris and the rest of the Dems stayed in his comfort zone and pushed a narrative that ended up not mattering to anyone except Drake and his lawyers. It's fun to see Drake legally crash out, but I wish we as a collective used these platforms to at least speak on what's going on now while our voices are loud enough to do so. "We don't wanna hear that bullshit Sharief" is what keeps ppl like Trump in power.

I think alot of this is cleared up honestly under the theme of Mr. Morale which is majority of Kendrick's introspection and sociopolitical pov is done from the perspective of himself and survirors guilt. But he aint really been the type to have songs addressing specific social issues on a wide scale and has said he wants people to stop looking for him to do so. If you were expecting that from him then that falls into the category of alot of Kendrick fans who view Kendrick far different than he views himself. He's asked people to not expect more from him
