COMMUNITY United States Politics Thread: Trump's Second Term

I have questions...

how much aid were these orgs promised.. and how much are they now owed for the violation

Also.. the Trump administration is an interesting way to phrase it. so..... its not the trump admin.. it's taxpayers that gotta pay for the violation correct?

I'm not sure about the answers to your questions. What I do know is that the money was already earmarked for those orgs. That's why Trump is in violation. Congress already approved of that money to go and it was signed off by Biden, so Trump didn't really have the right to unilaterally pull the money back. So they probably just mean he has to release the money that they stopped from going out.

Yo, that shit's crazy. They just in the Oval Office committing blatant fraud.

On top of that, the Reps passed their budget which is going to slash Medicaid and cut taxes even more for rich people.

Since trump 1st run in office people have deluded themselves of the short and long term effects of his decisions. From those tax order to now this...the "well it aint affecting me" shit is a long gone reality. They're coming after everybody

So we only make up 6% of DEI hires and the majority that benefits is white women?

"Here’s what DEI actually means

From a HR Leader...

Some of what DEI is:

-ramps and sidewalk curb cuts
-subtitles & captions (TV & phone)
-family restrooms
-changing tables in men’s restrooms
-breast feeding/pumping stations & accommodations
-floating paid holidays
-pay equity & transparency
-parental leave (time & pay)
-coming back to a job after birthing a child
-not having to just accept workplace harassment
-work accommodations for a variety of disabilities
-flexible work arrangements
-size inclusive chairs and beds in medical facilities
-belt extenders on planes
-various food options for vegetarians/vegans/kosher/gluten-free/etc at medical facilities
-non smoking areas/end of smoking indoors
-being able to have medical professionals and your coworkers use your preferred name (not just queer people have those)
-wellness programs and incentives
-more relaxed & inclusive dress code policies
-rooms to pray/meditate at work & other public places
-employee recognition programs
-employee/network resource groups
-large print materials
-materials in different languages
-multiple religious options at hospitals
-accessible bikes and public transit accommodations
-businesses not becoming fully cashless
-company-covered mental/behavioral health resources

Some of What DEI isn’t:

-hiring an under qualified person for a job just because they’re a person of color
-hiring based on race just to meet diversity goals (this is illegal)
-a new fad or buzz word. DEI work has been going on for many many years, under different names"

Exactly why many posters were saying DEI isn't just some "give a nigga a job" policy but actually includes multiple things that affect people's lives on a daily basis

Majority of the USA including a lot of us here was fighting for DEI because they thought it affected black folks the most in the job market.

As I've said before on here...majority of people have no damn clue about the things they're talking about when it comes to these political policies. And politicians know that. It's why they keep pivoting from "CRT" to "Affirmative Action" to "DEI" as a placeholder for Black people meanwhile the people most affected don't realize it til it's too late

I stayed out of the DEI thing (plus I wasn’t on here that much) because I didn’t understand it. I had a feeling it was very much more than hiring.

And thats the thing bout giving the stage to conservatives they distort, lie redefine things and lead narrative that shit takes root and grows weeds.. there arent many fighters on the other side of the aisle they are usually marginalized and made to be outcast... and the vast majority of them aint white..

I’m willing to bet they don’t know what it is either.

The fall back many go to is "Affirmative Action and DEI helped mainly white women" which is true in the context of hiring practices. The rest of the things Cain listed also falls under DEI but it's never framed that way. DEI has just become the latest public dog whistle to call Black people under qualified.
