COMMUNITY United States Politics Thread: Trump's Second Term

A memo from the White House budget office is calling for a spending freeze on federal assistance by 5 p.m. Tuesday, which could affect everything from aid to nonprofits, universities, small business loans and state and local government grants.

The freeze could have wide-ranging implications, with the White House noting that $3 trillion was spent in 2024 on federal assistance programs.

"This memorandum requires Federal agencies to identify and review all Federal financial assistance programs and supporting activities consistent with the President's policies and requirements," the memo says.

The White House has not yet commented on the memo, which was leaked Monday night. CBS News has confirmed its authenticity. which was leaked Monday night.

The Monday night memo from the Office of Management and Budget is directing federal agencies to assess compliance with President Trump's executive orders — specifically targeting "DEI, woke gender ideology and the Green New Deal." It does not give specifics on what these policies refer to, especially since the Green New Deal was never signed into law.

"The use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does notassess compliance with President Trump's executive orders — specifically targeting "DEI, woke gender ideology and the Green New Deal." It does not give specifics on what these policies refer to, especially since the Green New Deal was never signed into law.

"The use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does not improve the day-to-day lives of those we serve," the memo says.

The White House memo said it will not affect Medicare or Social Security benefits.

Curious about this because the position of the president is basically the boss. Could they technically be court martialed for not following his command? I guess because the command is immoral that it's allowed to be ignored. Though normally they'd go above the persons rank to report the command but it's the commander in chief so I'm curious on the logistics of that

Naw bc "malicious compliance" still acknowledges compliance. They can accuse them of purposely trying to stir things up but if trump said no more DEI and Tuskegee was under that curriculum what choice did they have really.

No one who voted for these MAGA clowns are allowed to complain about any of the 🤡 shit that they’re are proudly doing…

Growing up in the South and being on free lunch at a young age (from 6-9) this is dummy talk. Especially when a few of the black kids was on free lunch but most of the school was predominantly white and most of the white kids was on free lunch.

I grew up poor as fuck and I worked in the tomato fields as a teenager and tobacco field as a youngin. Not to eat a fucking school lunch to help my parents pay the bills.

Well yea like I was saying it's a command from someone higher rank than them. There are exceptions to disobeying a higher rank
