Who is ignoring it? You just don't actually realize the article you posted doesn't support the idea you were trying to push which is that residents want the military and other fed agents patrolling the streets. Those are 2 different things. And it also ignores that crime overall was already down and continuing to fall before they arrived.
My focus was on what the Mayor said more than anything else.
And, according to her, carjackings dropped 87%.
She also said she's looking to hire 500 police officers over the next several years, which tells me 2 things.
First, if she's saying several years......to me..........that means at least 10 years.
Second, if she plans to hire 500 more police officers, then DC has a shortage of 500 police officers right now.
So, with the National Guard and feds patrolling the streets, that coverage is already taken care of for as long as they stay there.
They don't really have to do much of anything.
Their presence alone is going to be a deterrent to crime.
Which makes things easier for the police because most police work is done after a crime has already been committed.
Less crime..........less police work..........and no need to worry about hiring more police over the next several years.
Provided, of course, that DC maintains a strong National Guard/Fed/Military presence on the streets.
