Yeah Im pretty sure I remember his wife on the Combat Jack show back in the day and talking about that payout... Think he also had depression which led to comfort eating, if did have depression some of those meds make you bang on tons of weight pretty quick, so if he was on medication that could be a factor too...

I also remember some mad story of him eating drywall, that could be bullsh!t though...
