So after watching this live I'm reminded that I've always wondered this: Why do long-distance runners group up in the inner 2 lanes? It's always seemed like a recipe for this exact thing. I get the outer lanes you gotta cover more distance because of the turn, but why not just rock out in the 3rd lane right next to the group?

Even being in the 3rd lane is a "waste of time". Yeah, you can risk tripping or getting elbow-pushed but it's way better
