A top sheet, also called a flat sheet, is the additional sheet that rests between your comforter and your fitted sheet (the one that makes you sweat when you struggle to wrap its elastic hem around all four corners of your bed).

Back on topic I usually just store them in the closet or something

I should add I personally don't think there is a right or wrong way.

It gets hot and humid af here like 90% of the year, so I'm always trying to remove layers and just another sheet can make a difference between being uncomfortable or sweating profusely at night
