Bottom line; Nipsey was just another rapper before he died. Nobody was calling him top 10 DOA or The GOAT. Nobody was comparing him to 2pac & Biggie. I'm not saying he was wack, in fact I'm not familiar with his music at all. Truthfully before he died I couldn't name one song or name any of his albums.
But saying he's the "GOAT" because he was nominated for a Grammy and didn't win doesn't mean much. Chance The Rapper was nominated for 7 Grammys in 2017 and won 4, but he's not on anybody's top 10 list.
Granted, I put "awards" in my criteria in the O/P, but without the sales, hit singles, social media, classic albums, street cred, etc. we might as well be talking about Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
