This Generation Is Soft Pt.3438098: Ari Lennox Says Martin Roasting Pam Hurt Her Feelings

On a side note, sensitive black people always amaze me. I went to mostly black schools coming and they were brutal. My homeboys went to different mostly black schools in different parts of the country and had the same experience. Basically, you can get roasted for being short, tall, skinny, fat, dark, light, smart, dumb...basically, if you're not in the middle of every spectrum you're going to catch hell for something. So coming up knowing you can catch it over anything at anytime seemed to toughen us up. Like you can't hurt my feelings with words. I've heard every joke you can come up with. It amazes me to meet someone who grew up around black people but is sensitive about something or has some kinda complex. I'm like "How did you survive?"

The fact that not only you nigas don’t get it but are working overtime to invalidate her feelings is alarming

No one is invalidating her feelings. We're just saying that her plight can be applied to anyone. Short jokes, big ear jokes, big head jokes etc. So many people could've said the same thing. It's not like Pam was a docile character. Check out the comments. Most of the women disagreed with her. Last but not least, Martin never attacked Pam's skin color. They are the same complexion. So what sense that would've made?

Well there's a chance that some of those people just never spoke up about actually being bothered and carried that shit into adulthood. And it shows in a bunch of different ways. Especially depending on who the commentary was coming from and why

I disagree with Ari Lennox too...but you don't have to directly comment on somebody's skin tone for a comment or joke to be considered colorist. That's a part people seem to be missing

That's true. lol We black people got a weird way of relating with each other. We always assume that everyone is down with it, but it seems like some people be dying on the inside.

The underlined is kinda what the issue is here in this thread. I'd challenge you or anyone else to tell me anything that she said that you disagree with.

Go.

Oh, well I don't know anything about her, so maybe that's the reason.

A shame that a chick that looks like that walks around thinking she's lesser. That in itself is crazy when you think about it.

There was a thing about a year or 2 ago where some folks went viral for comparing her to a dog. She's gotten some pretty shitty commentary about things that have nothing related to her music

I disagree that Martin's jokes should have stopped her or anybody else from seeing Tichina Arnold as gorgeous because even in the context of the show Martin on more than 1 occasion acknowledged Pam for being gorgeous. That's the narrative thats been parrots as I've seen multiple people say "and yall fell for it" while ignoring that not only did every man on that show but men in general find her to be very attractive.

If those jokes stopped her from seeing Pam as beautiful then that's not an issue with the show thats an internal issue she was battling because Pam was also smart, quick witted, talented, fly as hell, confident and a bunch of other positive things...but all of that is missed because of Martin's jokes? It'd be one thing if there werent direct counters to how Martin joked on Pam but there was plenty evidence to the contrary.

I don't think anyone can disagree with what she said since she expressed her personal feelings. What people disagree with is what those feelings imply i.e., the idea that the jokes between Martin and Pam made Pam seem lesser or had any basis in colorism.

But...she didn't say that. Not once. Ever. She didn't IMPLY that. She didn't ALLUDE to that. In fact, she was very clear about the fact that she views Tachina Arnold as gorgeous.

This thread is interesting as fuck, low key. It's just niggas in a group talking past one another.
This thread is interesting because it’s 7 pages of niggas missing the point lmao but swear they understand

And I’m amazed because it’s simple

Well for me atleast but I get everybody doesn’t think the same way so I can’t really be upset

Come here Ari there’s no colorism around here.

Edit: bring Pam or you can leave her 🤷🏾‍♂️

Go to the 40 second mark where she says she wasn't able to fully appreciate Pam's beauty because of what she was being fed. If you've got a different interpretation please share.
