This Ain’t Random Enough

@mike030270

I was recently issued a new laptop for work. Can you tell me why the battery still drains when it is sleeping and not being used at all?

Like I'm talking the laptop is practically turned off and not in suspension but I come back to it a couple days later and I get the battery low warning

it still uses power even when sleep. how you shocked when you come back DAYS later and the battery is low if you dont have it plugged up

What's the point of sleep mode then
You don't have to close programs and functions.

Like if you turn it off off, you have to reopen Outlook, Chrome, or any apps you use.

If it goes to sleep, you can watch a YouTube video right at the part you paused it at

That sounds like a design flaw
Like think of rest mode on a PS5.

It can still charge controllers and it still gets updates....

But if the power actually goes out...it needs to reboot, cuz the power was completely cut, so it was never SHUT DOWN

sleep mode isnt. SHUTDOWN... There are still process running in the back ground. It is still connected to the Internet, files and applications aren't completely closed and shut down...

Sleep and shut downs are different.

My bad but yea they all answered it. Sleep uses a small amount of power but still uses power. You can change the amount though but it'll obviously change the performance
