Good job. Editing is almost as hard as the writing itself though. It can be expensive to get a pro, but you can get some of it done using some tools online. I'd recommend ProWritingAid. There is a free version that you can do a lot with.
Yeah I’m sure professional editing can be crazy. I’ll check out prowritingaid. I appreciate you bro.

What would you say the price range would be for an editor? For like a 325 page book. 5k? I started writing a book. Im not far at all, but i enjoy it.

They charge by word. 5K doesn't sound out the realm of possibility for a good one. There are different types of editing too. There's line editing, which is basically going through and correcting all your grammatical errors and such. Then there is more content related editing where they go through your book and make sure that everything is logically consistent and stuff like that. The 5K might cover that too. If so, that's good. I paid $1200 for an editorial assessment, which is basically when you get a professional to read your book and let you know what works and what needs to be improved. If you've written something, I'd definitely recommend going through it chapter by chapter with something like ProWritingAid first. Like I said, editing is done per word, you probably have a lot of bloat in your book that needs to be cut out (e.g., too many adverbs). When you got through that first sweep, you'll probably cut a lot of words out, which would make the editing cheaper.

I never thought about balloons like party balloons being bad for the environment. lol white folks on Facebook got pissed at my comment

How long have you been writing?

Did you take some writing classes?

Have you ever wrote a book before?
I’ve taken a writing class but it’s been YEARS! I used to write in my teenage years, but I was discouraged from pursuing writing by my folks because I was good at football. When I was a teenager, I was introduced to James Clavell who wrote Shogun. They just remade his book into a series on Hulu.

I fell in love with that story and wanted to write a book about an African slave who becomes a samurai warlord. I never finished it. That story has been done, so I won’t pursue it now. This is my first attempt at writing a full book. It’s been a harrowing experience for me, but so fulfilling.

Editing is also the wall I ran into. I know I need to get back into it, I'm just not in the head space.

And here we thought the WU was rapping gibberish

You cherry picked one line that wasn't gibberish lol

I love Triumph but a lot of that shit don't make sense and not in a Lupe way where you have to be well versed in a particular subject or have to dig a bit deeper

Yeah that cost is what’s gonna set me back. Definitely going to try prowritingaid first and go from there.

Might be worth it at this point just to get the shit out.

AI is a good tool, but it doesn't catch everything.

My recommendation based on my research and what I've been doing:

  1. Use the AI tool to get the basic editing done
  2. Go through your book again, but let the program you're using read it to you. That might sound weird, but I've found it actually does help. You'll hear things that sound wrong that both you and the AI missed.
  3. Let other people who are either avid readers or have some proofreading experience read your book and give you feedback. They will catch things you miss too.

One of the greatest journeys in life. Is the inner journey. When you can dive deep into yourself and remove the critique and or general perception of the things that describe you. So that you can just embrace them as a part of you and not something that defines you through the judgement of others. Awww man.

A very great way to look at it is the acceptance that as a black person who doesn’t live on the west coast. Take vitamin D. Our melanin is a part of what makes us great but sometimes it protects us to well when the sun isn’t as bright as it can be. Vitamin D makes up for what we don’t get.

To where even on a day of overcast, the sun is out inside of you.
