Welcome To aBlackWeb

Ok so folks are getting woke again. I saw somebody say online the Dahomey were major slave traders and shouldn’t get a movie. But believe it or not most African Kingdoms had some form of slavery long before white folks. I mean we get European movies every year but now folks saying this is bad smh

African slavery isn't as brutal as the chatteu slavery that our ancestors had to endure in the new world and if the Dahomey had a hand in the slave trade then I don't want to see it either.

Looks like it's gonna be a great flick

Only the story line can hold it back......

This was a dope film, good storyline with great action. Not your typical "slavery movie".

I don't know how historically accurate it is but it was well put together. The actors done well.

So this is the movie where they take a tribe that's been known as one of the main warring, enslaving and selling tribes in West Africa and try to present them to us as heroes because they had all-female warrior groups?

Late on this, but Dahomey was on a whole nother level with their involvement in the transatlantic slave trade. Good chance that all of us have blood in our veins from several people who were captured by Dahomey and sent across the ocean.

I still want to see the movie, however. I just hope they don't try to romanticize or downplay that part of the history.
