OPINION The Wire - A Hindsight Discussion

Man killed his nephew and he wasn't going to do anything.

I just watched the series again a few months ago.

The discourse on Dee really irritates me now.

Dee was a weak ass nigga. Only thing saving Dee was being Avon nephew.

Avon would have been killed Dee if not for being family.

Pitt boys thought Dee was weak. Avon crew ain't really mess with Dee.

Avon was finally beginning to question Dee while locked up in season 2. Weebey told Avon he had been real good to him.

String was right in killing Dee. Couldn't trust Dee moving forward.

Avon was pissed at String when he confessed but Avon understood and chalked it up to the game.

He was probably more upset he had to keep the truth from Brianna more than anything

Hey Dee got 2 bodies that we know of

And had the pit jumping

lol

There's a girl that was buying drugs in Hamsterdam and she was in two more scenes. The second it shows her as a prostitute in the next season clearly she hit rock bottom. The third scene was the finale she's shown at Bubbles last meeting in the crowd. Those three small appearances shows her starting on the drugs, a fiend doing anything to get the drugs and finally her getting clean.

@Elzo69Renaissance I peeped her years back.

All of this is true about D'Angelo, except I don't think Avon was ever ok with what happened to him. Ultimately its why he allowed Stringer to die and initiated the hit.

In terms of the game, maybe Stringer was right, but it wasn't Stringer's move to make, since he is a bitch. As a boss, sure, but Avon knew Stringer lacked the heart to present that idea as a necessity, so he went behind his back.

In the end, they betrayed each other. To them each, though, the betrayal occurred when their priorities didn't aligned anymore. Avon the gangster/realist and Stringer the capitalist/idealist.

lol Avon ain’t let Stringer die cuz of Dee shit he could have killed String or had him killed at any point

Huh? Bro Avon understood String was a dead man regardless

The issue was was Avon going to go down w him
Let's separate the many, many fuck ups Stringer committed that led to Brother standing in that barbershop.

In Season 1? Avon wouldnt have given up String like that. He would have found a new connect rather than give up his boy, and if it came to it he would have soldiered up for him too. Its not like Avon was one to shy away from a fight.

But after all the snake shit String had done to lead to that point? Well, it went the way it went. My point is, the shit with D was the straw that broke the camels back.
