Had a convo with my moms recently about my ride while it was in the shop. She's asked me a number of times why don't I just go get a newer car from a lot and I had to explain, once again, that I don't want a car note because that makes no financial sense right now. My ride is 24 years old, but it has no rust or frame damage from rust, low miles for it's age (170k), and the shit that needs to be fixed is part of wear and tear for its age (I just replaced the front brake lines because one rotted and broke and the other was on its way to breaking next). I view it like I view a lot of things in life: If it still works, why am I replacing it? My computers are all older because they still work. The components in my entertainment center are all older 'cause they still work and I don't see a real need to buy something newer. All of my recording equipment is older except my microphone which I got new in 2022. The PC that runs all of it is older. I've been at the point where replacing things because there's a new version of it despite the old one still working just doesn't make sense anymore. This video speaks to that.
