The "Share-A-Playlist" Thread

Koncept, you do realize the albums are available for purchase if you want to do that as well

yes, so why stream them? What's the point in paying for streaming if you already have it?
ehhh

I stream a buncha shit I would be pissed if I bought them

sometimes a carefully crafted 30 sec snippet of a song not gonna tell the whole story

today I get a chance to listen to an album in it's entirety to decide if I wanna but it or not

think of how album sales would've been back in the day if people were allowed to get their money back after they heard it in full

alright this playlist is to give folks an idea of the sound coming out of my area. for the unfamiliar, i'm an artist but i also spend a lot of time going to showcases and listening parties of the various artists from around here. The 757 is a melting pot where a LOT of sounds that you know and love today came from. Knowing that, you know that the future of music will forever be influenced by us.

that said, heres the playlist:

Blockbuster Music used to let you listen to albums before you bought them.
decent coutner

but how many times did you sit there and listen to an album in full before you decided to purchase it

with music in general, especially if its an artist i like, i tend to have the first "OMG" reaction, but i need several listens after that and even still, i might not buy it.

tbh, i dont really care about "owning" music either, but i might be the minority in that. We dont consume music the way we used to and thats not necessarily a bad thing. But my stance my change later in life...idk

With new artists? All the time. No way in hell I wasn't gonna do that. Plus, the spots I just to buy vinyl from back inna day had listening stations for DJ's to check out shit. I'm talking as far back as '91.

With established artists? Not often. If it was someone I was fuckin' with I'd buy the album off the strength of the single or the name. EPMD was a consistent "blind buy" and I was never disappointed.

As for consuming music, I still listen to CD's, I still have vinyl and buy more all the time. I don't stream, don't listen to anything via bluetooth, and only occasionally use an aux cable in the car. The only thing that's really changed for me is listening via cassette but even then that will change when I get back to Tha D 'cause I can get my tape deck and all of my old tapes from my sister.

Im with you on this. It makes no sense to pay $20 per album in which 2 songs may be of quality (let’s be honest here music is down the can these days). It makes more sense to pay roughly $20 a month with unlimited access to artist catalogs. Some people letting their gray hairs show with this one.
