Nunes Vows To ‘Come After’ All Who Lied, Defamed Him: ‘I’m Coming To Clean Up’
Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) spoke to a friendly audience on Monday evening just after filing suit against a Republican operative and McClatchy Company, which publishes a newspaper in his home state. Nunes vowed to “come after” all who have “lied” and “defamed” him over the years.
“So part of the lawsuit is, not only that they need to retract everything they did against me, but they also need to come clean with the American people, retract all of their fake news stories,” he said, speaking about the $150 million suit he filed in Virginia on Monday.
“So this is part of the broader cleanup,” he continued. “So remember, a few weeks ago I filed against Twitter, they’re censoring conservatives. McClatchy is one of the biggest, the worst offender of this, but we’re coming after the rest of them. I think people are just beginning to wake up now that I’m serious and I’m coming to clean up all of the mess. So if you’re out there and you lied and you defamed, we are going to come after you.”
This is the second multi-million dollar suit Nunes has filed against Liz Mair, a Republican strategist, alongside other media companies in the past two months. In March, the lawmaker sued Mair, Twitter and two troll accounts that mocked his “cow” and his “mom” for $250 million, alleging defamation and an orchestrated effort to harass him on Twitter. In Monday’s suit, Nunes alleges that Mair conspired with a reporter at the Fresno Bee to ruin his reputation.
