Ex-National Enquirer Editor Suggests Jared, Ivanka Partook In ‘Criminal Activity’
Former National Enquirer senior editor Jerry George said Monday night that he knew of stories killed by his old magazine and it’s Trump-sympathetic publisher that implicated Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump in “criminal activity.”
“They’re certainly embarrassing,” he told MSNBC’s Ari Melber about stories killed concerning President Donald Trump. “And then when you get involved with the actions of his children, including his daughter and son-in-law, we’re getting closer to criminal activity.”
George added that he believes the magazine acted together with the Trump campaign to break the law, and that there is still “another shoe to drop” now that America Media Inc., the National Enquirer’s parent company, has been granted immunity by federal prosecutors.
George homed in on Kushner, suggesting that he played a significant role in communication between AMI and the Trump campaign. “I definitely think that once Michael [Cohen] stepped aside, there was foot traffic between people in the Trump Organization, including Jared, into the American Media organization,” George said.
George also nodded to Kushner’s ties with Saudi Arabia’s crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, saying that the magazine featured the royal on its cover, an odd move for a domestically-focused publication, and soon after received a mysterious influx of cash.
Report: Mueller To Detail Trump Associates’ Offers Of Russian Sanctions Relief
Special counsel Robert Mueller is preparing court filings detailing Trump associates’ offers of sanctions relief to “well-connected” Russians, the Daily Beast reported Tuesday, citing three unnamed sources “familiar with Mueller’s probe.”
The filings will also detail “how those offers and counter-proposals were characterized” to Trump campaign and administration officials, in the report’s words.
Several people in Trump’s “inner circle” developed plans to roll back sanctions, according to the Daily Beast’s sources.
One unnamed former Treasury official said Trump’s transition team “was a mess” and that “by the time they got their stuff together, Congress was increasing sanctions.”

Pete Williams: ‘This Was A Bad Day For Michael Flynn’
NBC News justice correspondent Pete Williams said that the delayed sentencing for former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn spells out how bad a day he was having in court.
“Well, I would say this was a bad day for Michael Flynn because both he and the lawyers for Robert Mueller expected a sentence of zero prison time,” Williams said in the minutes after the delayed sentencing on Tuesday. “Now what the judge strongly suggested today is that he was prepared to sentence him to some time in prison, based on the seriousness of the offense.”
“I guess the only hope for Michael Flynn to avoid some prison time is if he continues to cooperate and if the judge, somewhat, calms down, then perhaps when we come back here…he will be able to get the sentence that he and his defense lawyers were hoping for of just probation,” he added.
