IMO republicans should tell McCarthy to go away and just work with democrats to find a speaker. 2024 is coming fast and democrats and republicans aren’t going to do much, but argue and vacation until then. So them coming together to find a speaker won’t be a issue.

I see your point. And I just heard this morning that one of their demands centers around term limits for Congress. I think that’s a great move.
