The Official this beat and song was meant for someone else thread

All the Relapse beats were originally meant to be for Detox album but Jimmy Lovine said to Dre let Em have them after he came back from rehab so Detox was scrapped just for Relapse

Which is sad as this album is a disgrace/terrible subject matter, flow, delivery wise and too lyrical

Without P Diddy's production and all those RnB stars that featured on his songs to do the hook to give him a hit

Biggie would have still been stacking shelf's at the super market he used to work at
Warning
Big Poppa
Get Money
Players Anthem

Were all hits that had no r&b singers on them

But great production

Biggie didn't produce

And they not as huge of a hit as Juicy, One More Chance that did have an RnB singer on the hook

P Diddy turned Biggie from a rappity/cypher style/hard core street MC/back pack MC into somebody that could sell albums due to P Diddy's production and mixing and RnB singers he chose and paid to feature on his songs and singles

But of course you realize Dre, did the very same watering down of Eminem to make him appeal more to mainstream radio

Umm having great production is a huge factor in making music timeless and/or classic though. How does Biggie not producing factor into anything? Doesn’t matter if it weren’t “as big of a hit” you can’t move the goalposts you said if it weren’t for r&b singers and Diddy he couldn’t make a hit. Yet Players Anthem was not produced by Diddy and Big was on the chorus. Get Money was a hit that was not produced by Diddy and Big did the chorus on that as well.

You have a disdain for r&b singers on choruses but Eminem’s biggest hit had Rihanna on the chorus.

Britney Spears was linked to the track too, but someone in her camp told Dream the song was wack hahaha, bet u it was some old white person lol. Imagine if Britney got that and put Kevin Federline on it instead of jay lol

That beat even sounds like it was made for Britney nasaly voice...

And it would have been feature-less or they woulda got a safe negro like Will-i-am
