The Official MMA Thread

Completely rumored, but the rumor is pereira will move up to Heavyweight and fight Gane for the interim HW title. No word if he vacates the LHW belt, but I think itd be likely considering his age.

Aspinall has had multiple surgeries on his eyes and will be out for awhile.

Interim belt fight is rumored to be at the white house event.

Nah everybody is saying hes milking itand being a baby about it, but he apparently has been having a lot of difficulty. Its hard to know if hes milking it or not. Dude has been documenting everything on his youtube. He physically looks okay. Theres no bruising or cuts or anything on his eyes and i dont think there ever was, but he claims he still sees dots everywhere and things are fuzzy and he gets vertigo. He apparently misses peoples hands when he goes to shake their hands.

The replay definitely shows at least one finger going 2 knuckles deep, but aspinal claims his other eye, that looks like it was really just grazed, is the one that gives him the most problems.

Regardless, hes getting multiple surgeries for his eyes and will be out for 6 months or so.

Dana White refuses to make any comment about Aspinal or his eyes during press conferences. He obviously thinks Tom is being a huge pussy, but doesnt want to give people headlines lol.

Heavyweight division is already shallow enough and got out of shape fighters like Lewis and that fat guy from new zealand in the top 15 and now they got no active champion again

I thought Dana already commented on it and basically called him weak?

Saw some photos that were supposedly the day after an eye surgery. A lot of people in the comments said it was lasik

Heavyweight was pretty bad even when Jones was champ because he kept ducking the next in line

I think he commented on it soon after the event happened, but at the most recent press conference when he was asked he said "Dont even ask me about Aspinal. Im not going to make any comment on aspinal or his eye surgery" or something to that effect lol. You could tell he was irritated and wanted to say some shit about him being a pussy though.

I dunno if it was lasik, but its similar. It was a Laser eye surgery. He posted some photos and his eyes were super bloodshot after surgery.

Most definitely. Heavyweight hasnt had many great fighters in quite some time. Probably back when Ngannou, Stipe and DC were the big 3 of the division was the most exciting it had been in quite some time. I think theres definitely some great fighters in Heavyweight, but there isnt much competition. Derrick Lewis is entertaining, but especially after his last fight, he just gives up and is always too out of shape to compete well. Dude didnt even get knocked out at the last fight. He literally just laid down and accepted defeat. Shit was pathetic. Same with Tai Tuavasa or however you spell it. If they dont get the knockout in the first few minutes of the fight, they just get picked apart and too exhausted.

Only fighters worth really watching in Heavyweight currently imo are Aspinal, Gane, Volkov, and Sergei. Blaydes can be entertaining too. Then this Waldo Cortes Acosta is on the come up for sure. Hes not even that impressive but hes just dog walking the rank 6-15 Heavyweight fighters and its on short notice fights most times.

Having pereira move up and finish his career at heavyweight would definitely get some excitement for the division. LHW will be just fine with entertaining fights. They might as well sign Gable Stephenson too at this point because hes young and he's clearly better than everyone outside of the top 5 in the current heavyweight division.

Its OFFICIAL

Alex Pereira has VACATED the Light Heavyweight title.

Jiri Prochazka will fight Carlos Ulberg for the LHW title in a couple months.

Alex Pereira will be fighting Ciryl Gane for the (as of right now) Interim Heavyweight Title. The winner will face Aspinal for the Undisputed Heavyweight Title when he returns.

There is still a possibility that Aspinal will be released from the UFC which will make Periera vs Gane for the Undisputed Heavyweight title.

Alex Pereira could possibly be the first UFC fighter to win belts in 3 different weight classes. Fucking incredible what he has done in the UFC with such a short career.

Could that be the white house event?

A ufc fight at the white house still seems like a security nightmare lol
From what I heard it will be very limited seats. Won't be a lot of the die hard fans in attendance. Still havent confirmed how it will be worked out though. Just know its on the lawn lol.
