The Official MCU Thread

I thought all those characters at the end of Guardians 2 with Stallone and Ving Rhames were the original Guardians along with Yondu
Yes comic wise they are from like 3000 something lol but as to not confuse the general audience they used the Starlord lead version.

Ah I never realized that when I read about them in the past just saw that and then they didnt use them until 2008 and the rebooted team is super similar to the movie version.

Is quasar that guy that joined the team in guardians volume 2? The guy that was given yondus dart weapon thing

Nah, Quasar is powerful as hell, not a clown.

Marvel movies are some of the biggest and most successful films, so it makes sense that many actors would want to be a part of them. Now, Caitlyn Jenner is joining the list.

Speaking with Variety in their issue on transgender Hollywood, Jenner revealed that her dream acting role would be as a villain in a Marvel movie.

"In a Marvel movie, I want to play the baddest-ass lady you've ever seen in your life," Jenner said. "They got the wicked queen or the wicked lady. Just do the makeup and the outfit. And I got the deep voice."

While most people are familiar with Jenner for her public transition as well as her time as part of the Kardashian family, Jenner isn't a stranger to acting. Jenner appeared in a handful of made-for-TV movies in the early 1980s and even had a guest-starring role as Officer Steve McLeish for six episodes of the police series CHiPs.

Jenner also auditioned for Superman, ultimately losing out to Christopher Reeve for the iconic role. It's something that Jenner said was a relief, as she was struggling living as a man and Superman was perhaps the most visible representation of manhood.

"And then four months later [after winning a gold medal at the 1976 Olympics] they call up: 'Would you be interested in a screen test for Superman?'" Jenner recalled. "It was just too much for me. I would have gone down as the most macho guy in the world, and that's not me. It's not even close to me."

As for what lady she's referring to? There are plenty of intense female villains in the Marvel universe, though choice of one would depend on a lot of factors, including which franchise. With Cate Blanchett carving out her corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the powerful Hela in Thor: Ragnarok, Jenner might have a better shot over in the X-Men world — though with the Disney/Fox deal that might end up being the same playground.

Maybe Jenner could have a turn as the Mister Sinister cone, Miss Sinister. Of course, there don't appear to be any real plans for Jenner to play a Marvel villainess, but if there ever were, Jenner is prepared to draw on her own experiences to bring the character to life.

"That's why I want to play that bad-ass bitch," she said. "I can play that girl."

I was about to say Jenner as a villainess would be preposterous, but I could see him as Miss Sinister if he has any acting ability.

James Gunn Won’t Be Hired Back to Direct ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’

After weeks of anticipation, an open letter from the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy, hundreds of thousands of vocal fans and fellow celebrities expressing support, and rumblings that James Gunn might be hired back by Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, all hopes for the director’s return to the franchise are now gone.

James Gunn will not be hired back to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Disney and Marvel are said to be standing by their decision not to reinstate him, and this comes after a meeting took place with James Gunn himself and Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn.

Variety has the depressing news of Disney and Marvel’s difficult and upsetting decision. Apparently James Gunn and his representatives from United Talent Agency made quite the push for the filmmaker to have a second chance, and that’s why Alan Horn agreed to have a meeting to discuss the possibility. There may have never been any real hope to begin with since this was described as a “courtesy meeting” that was very “civil and professional.”

One would think that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige would have been there to help make the case for James Gunn’s reinstatement, but he was said to be out of town (possibly on the set of Spider-Man: Far From Home across the pond) and thus unable to attend. Feige was reportedly pushing for Gunn to be rehired as well, but he also stands by the studio’s decision and won’t continue to fight them on the matter.

What Happens Now?
When Kevin Feige comes back into town, Disney and Marvel will figure out who will take over as director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Frankly, I don’t envy anyone taking that job, because they’ll be held to a very high standard and under much scrutiny with every detail that comes out about the film.

It’s still unclear whether or not Disney and Marvel will use James Gunn’s original script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Recently rumors said they would likely keep the draft he turned in, but whoever is brought in to direct will likely need to go through it as well and might make some changes. Here’s hoping they reach out to Gunn for some consulting instead of just leaving him high and dry.

It remains to be seen what the cast will do in the wake of this decision. Obviously they all have contracts, but Dave Bautista already expressed a desire to be let out of his contract if James Gunn wasn’t brought back to the franchise. And Chris Pratt recentl said it’s not an easy time right now. It’ll be interesting to see what they all do now that the decision is final.

Production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was meant to begin early next year, but it hasn’t been determined if that timetable will be pushed back at all with this substantial hiccup in the process. Plus, who knows what this means for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the sequel was intended to kick off the next 10 years of films in the interconnected comic book movies franchises.

The good news is that James Gunn isn’t anywhere near blacklisted after this debacle. We’ve already heard about several studios who were waiting to offer the director projects once Disney solidified their decision on the matter. Warner Bros. Pictures is believed to be among them, so maybe he’ll get back in the comic book movie saddle again after all. There’s a Green Lantern Corps. movie that still needs a director after all.

That's so fucking wack of Disney. Those jokes were terrible terrible attempts at being funny and edgy, but it's not like he was accused of harassment or rape like the rest of these me too people. Gunn was supposed to play a huge role in the next phase too. Hopefully they use his draft of the film for sure and hopefully they find a worthy director to take over the franchise.

I wouldn't be mad at all if WB snatched him up to direct a DC film. I havent seen a Gunn film that I didnt like yet. Hopefully he will play a role in the direction of all the films too.

He probably be perfect for the gl corps film.

Report: Production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Has Been Put on Pause

"Considering all the Guardians of the Galaxy-adjacent news we’ve gotten this summer, this announcement is actually pretty far from shocking: Production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which was in the very early stages, has been put on hold. Temporarily.

Variety reports that this shutdown affects “less than 20” crew members in Atlanta, without specifying which department they were in. That’s a small number in the face of such a huge production, but a telling setback for a film that’s currently without a director after James Gunn was removed from the project in July. Since then, the cast of the hugely popular Marvel franchise has voiced their support for Gunn, though a recent report said that it wasn’t likely Disney would re-hire him for the project.

While the studio—which didn’t offer comment on the shutdown report—figures out how to move forward with Guardians Vol. 3, it makes sense that it wouldn’t keep a crew on the payroll for a movie with a vacant director’s chair. Obviously, the production timeline will now need some major reconfiguring. Even before Gunn’s departure, the film (which was originally due to begin filming next year) had no release date set, a circumstance that seems unlikely to change anytime soon."
