In 2020 lockdown (covid really been here that long!), I dropped an excerpt from an athletic article, saying his ex-teammates (across various clubs, mind you) have complained about how difficult and stressful playing alongside him is, due having focus on their task as well as covering for his deficiencies and mistakes.

The club would be drastically better if they just stop with the sunk cost fallacy and cut their losses with guys like him.
