Ralf Rangnick is now statistically and officially the worst manager we’ve had.
Badly failed experiment.
I said this previously in this thread, at the start of the season Man United under Ole had: Ronaldo, cavani, rashford, martial, greenwood...
Since Ragnick came in November and with Jan 2022 transfer window around the corner at the time, they then left Ragnick with: Ronaldo (not withstanding Cavani being there but always injured and Rashford simply shit).
But because he's interim or whatever unknown reason, there were no additions to the squad so for the better part of the second half of the season, Ragnick has had a worse squad than what was there at the start.
The Ragnick experiment definitely was a massive failure on all parties (Ragnick didn't influence or implement his ways, players didn't redeem themselves after getting ole the sack along with previous managers, the board/hierarchy showing ineptitude in their football decision-making) but a lot of the players effectively went on holiday the day Ragnick stepped in the door if not before (Watford 4-1 loss is indictment of that).
Man United current top scorers in the league in order are: Ronaldo (18), Bruno (10), Greenwood (5), Fred/Rashford (4). Total of 37 goals between 5 players.
But only 2 players in double digit figures and when your third top goal scorer is Greenwood who is only on 5 and has missed the last 15 games, you have to question what the hell are the others doing to Chip in.
Compare league scorers to last season when Ronaldo also wasn't there: Bruno (18), rashford (11), cavani (10), Greenwood (7).
3 players in double digits and more goals off the top 3 than the top 5 this season combined.
Granted there's been a dropoff in Bruno's numbers but without digging too deeply, he was always on set-pieces so a "lil stat padding" there.
But Rashford and Cavani...passengers this season compared to last.
It's not all about goals though as defense is of course worse, conceding more goals than before, but goals win games and they needed to address that during Jan. Relying on a 37 y/o to carry that burden shows incompetence, as older players are also more prone to injury. Luckily Ronaldo's body is conditioned far younger than his years would suggest
Ragnick being statistically the worst manager isn't the reason for man United abysmal season (they were already heading that path with Ole), but he has not been the solution towards on pitch matters. Actually the best thing Ragnick has done for Man United is literally call out all the BS that's fundamentally been wrong at the club that he's witnessed.
I think Ten Hag can easily be a success provided that he has a strong influence in recruitment and the senior management empower him because right now the patients run the asylum that is Man United
