The Official 2020/21 NBA Thread

My comment was a general one but the way I worded it seemed like it was directed to you. I apologize

You weren't here at the beginning of the season. I have a few posts in here saying that this year was a development year. I didn't expect them to make the playoffs and in fact I said if they made the play in, that would be icing on the cake but I fully expected this outcome.

Zion is a polarizing player which is why the Pelicans got as many national games as they did, not bc they were hoping the Pelicans were going to make the playoffs which is an assumption made by you and whoever else co-signed your post.

Reddick struggled and struggled badly. Adams, despite what most have said about his extension played very well this season. I'm not about to turn this into a back and forth about analytics either but I'll trust me watching practically every single game this year vs reading whatever a national pundit thinks about this team.
Nah reddick, adams and blesdoe have been terrible this season not discounting that. BUT yall had enough talent to be in the mix with Memphis and the spurs i aint going for this "nobody expected anything from us" angle

Lol we'll just agree to disagree man i didn't expect yall to be 10 games under .500. If those are the expectations u had for your team im sorry to hear that brothaman
Then that's on you Ax.

538.com predicted the Pelicans to finish 32-40

Other sites had them a few games under .500 as well and like 2 had them over .500.

Everyone who really follows this team knew what they were in for this season with this team. Some things came true, others were unforseen.

But if you thought they were making the playoffs this year then that's on you

Celtics mismanaged assets and players for the past 4 seasons fam

FOH
i didn't know yall were talking roster construction, i was talking production wise on the court. We've really had 2 wack ass years the other 2 seasons we weren't even expected to get out the 1st round and made the ECF. The roster we've had the past 2 seasons were mediocre outside our top 7 players. How the fuck is that doing more with less when we're top heavy?

We just gonna disagree about Adams fam.

Bledsoe as much as I was hoping it was going to work just didn't for whatever reason and Reddick was bad.

And you don't have to go with that angle because it's the truth. YOU thought they were a playoff team. That's on YOU brah. I really don't feel like bringing up my posts either but how you gonna tell me I'm trying to save face lol

Kyrie
Horford
Tatum
Brown
Smart
Hayward
Rozier

Also had the picks to trade for various stars and didn’t pull the trigger

You shoulda did more with what you had is all

@AP2.0 serious question, what exactly do you like about Steven Adam's and what's the point of him on the this team?

Pelicans are 23rd in defense

Steven Adam's has his worst PER since the 2014-2015 (his second season in the league)

Adam's also had the exact same usage rate as his rookie year

Averaged 8.9 rebounds per game(lowest since 2016-2017

Averaged 7.6 points per game (lowest since his second year in the league)

44% from free throw, career low

Defensive win share 1.7, career low

Dude is only 27 but plays and moves like hes 34....he has a lot of mileage/wear and tear on his body

Bad fit with Zion....could've very easily had Myles Turner instead

In 2018 yeah but the past 2 seasons we've had NO assets. Not trading Rozier and the pick that became Grant Williams to Orlando for Ibaka is disgusting. This has been a 3 year deterioration and we're getting slandered about something that happened 3 years ago. Those ECF appearances carried by the jays covered up Ainge fuckin up

Defense isn't a one person assignment. He is only one person. And again if you're going to base a conversation solely off defensive rating without proper context then it's a discussion I'm not interested in.

That's just a general statement and not specifically towards you.

I thought there a lot of intangible/tangible things he did that will never show up on a stat sheet, but you know what would've helped Adams role out? Not having turnstiles at every other position on the floor and now you're forcing him to save the possession.

The defense as a whole this season by and large was terrible and was a biproduct of extremely poor guard and wing play. Adams was a good to great offensive rebounder, a great screener in the PnR, and was an excellent mentor to Hayes this year as Jaxon will tell you himself.

Now what dollar value you assign to that, I don't know which is why I generally stay away from contract convos, but by the time Zion is ready for deal 2, Adams will be off the books I think.

Maybe they could've gotten Turner. Ok. We can play the would've could've should've game all day.

My larger point is if anyone is trying to say that Adams is to blame for the pissy defense just hasn't watched enough games to give an informed opinion.

“He sets good screens, he’s a mentor, he does things that don’t show up in the box score “

Checked off almost every box of what ppl go to when defending wack players
