Ok I'm about to go in on Pep

Pep's system relies heavily on elite ball retention midfielders.

His success in Barcelona solely because he had 3 players (2 of which are all-time midfielders) in the midfield, that were legendary (not just elite) at ball retention.

That's what made that team so great, 'cause teams could only create few chances, relying on an unrealistic shot-to-goal conversion and that knowledge impacts decision-making and causes players to take risks they shouldn't or snap at shots because the chance might not come again.

I used to think Sterling was evidence of his coaching, except Sterling is the only one who's noticeably improved under him. So I have to put that down to Sterling's work-ethic. Should be no surprise 'cause he buys ready-made players.

At bayern, he tried to champion P-E Højbjerg as the next captain/great midfielder... He stagnated (improved at S'ton under Hasenhüttl and Jose recognised this and signed this summer).

4 Straight QF exits with Citeh (Biggest budget ever)
1st vs Monaco, ahead going into the 2nd leg, plays usual attacking style.
2nd vs Liverpool, changed system; focused on dribbling instead of usual passing 'cause of fear of Liverpool's play
3rd vs Tottenham, should have beaten.
4th vs Lyon, changed to a 3-5-2 to match Lyon formation 'cause the previous yr in group stage, Lyon had beaten (etihad) and drawn (stade gerland) to Citeh. Clearly Pep didn't trust his tactical acumen to stop lyon's counter-attack.

KDB was asked after the Lyon game about the loss, he said "it's a different year, same stuff", that's it.. cut straight to the point and damning. He a fraud.

What he does well his teach players his system, however how hard could that be with elite players.

At least this transfer window, Ferran Torres and Ake don't seem like ready-made players to me

On some real shit, those emotional emo fraudulent Barcelona fans & delusion newly made Man city don’t think he’s a fraud.

But we all know that.

Ferran Torres no.

However, Ake has had 5 seasons of Prem, 4 years playing for Netherlands..He's a vet

However, if he does improve to being one of the best, I'll give props.

Don't they say a lot of Sterling's development was down to Arteta working closely with him? I'm sure I heard or read that somewhere along with Arteta being great with wingers.

Props for the post. Pep = real life fraud.

Great post!
People seem to also underestimate how strong the bench of each of his teams are. The quality of the bench alone could easily challenge for top 4 and that is why his league record is good. Give him a good team with an average bench and he will struggle like he did first year at city.

I love Kante but honestly I feel like his best days are behind him. Getting injured more frequently too...

If anything we should be looking at Ndidi, maybe in January.
