But playing devils advocate...
Is football just about skills, goals and assists? I would argue it’s not...a lot of it is mentality.
KDB mentality makes him a great player... but he didn’t have the mentality to not allow his team to be defeated in the league the way City were...with much more expensive players around him, Pep is considered a goat coach in general.
City lost 9 games this season and KDB played in all of them. They played Bournemouth twice and only took a point...also lost to Norwich. These are relegation teams.
Henderson didn’t allow it. No matter how good of player he is or isnt technically...he led his team by example. Games they were terrible in and got the win, Henderson was there leading by example scoring equalisers and assisting winning goals and even when he got injured he was on side line kicking every ball.
We will see if KDB can drive a team like Henderson has as I read Pep said he is in contention to take over from Silva.
Also and perhaps most importantly, Henderson contacted all captains of the other teams and arranged to raise money from every single player on the league for the NHS when Covid hit and he started that work long before the government were calling out footballers.
Technically he captained all the other captains in the league for off field work which was necessary as well as captaining Liverpool to lifting two biggest trophies.
When I found that out I was embarrassed for some of the other English captains in the league...Maguire especially as he is at a big club and the England captain...he shouldn’t have allowed Henderson to take the lead on donating to the NHS.
Henderson has proved that his mentality is superior to all the other captains in the league both on and off the pitch.
Not a rant, just playing devils advocate.
I support UTD. It’s always been fuck Liverpool so fuck Henderson too.
But credit where it’s due.
