Manchester City are set to open talks with 18-year-old midfielder Sandro Tonali of Serie B side Brescia, according to Gazzetta dello Sport's Nicolo Schira, with the club demanding €25m for a player also attracting interest from Inter, Juventus, AC Milan, Napoli, Roma, Chelsea and Monaco.

Daniel Sturridge could face a career-ending ban after being charged with a breach of FA betting rules that concerns, Sportsmail understands, his loan move to West Bromwich Albion in January.

The FA conducted an eight-month inquiry before announcing a misconduct charge on Monday that threatens to leave the 29-year-old England striker in a ruinous situation in the final year of his Liverpool contract.

Sturridge, who has until 6pm on November 20 to respond to the FA, is ready to contest the charge judging by the statement issued by Liverpool on Monday. It said Sturridge had told his employers 'categorically that he has never gambled on football'.

But the charge against Sturridge refers to allegedly passing on 'information relating to football which the participant has obtained by virtue of his or her position within the game and which is not publicly available at that time'.
