Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho makes huge U-turn on defender Luke Shaw: 'I don't see many left-backs better than this'

Luke Shaw is growing into one of the best left-backs in the Premier League after reviving his career at Manchester United, claims Jose Mourinho.

The England left-back has started the last five games for United – his best sequence since breaking his leg at PSV Eindhoven in September 2015 – and is expected to play at Burnley on Saturday even though Ashley Young is available again after suspension.

Shaw has already moved ahead of Daley Blind, who will miss the trip to Turf Moor through injury, and Matteo Darmian in the pecking order after falling out of favour with Mourinho a year ago.

But asked about Shaw’s current form on Friday, Mourinho completed a U-turn by replying: ‘I can say that in this moment I don't see many left-backs better than this Luke Shaw.

‘He had played very well. He was already improving and playing well when I start playing him after that long spell without minutes. I remember the first time he was coming step by step, and now with a good run of matches and continuity, he is solid.

So he says all that only to drop him now that Young is back for contention?! I knew Mourinho was trolling, you can see it in his smirk! LMAO

Hazard was another planet, truly world class... Him and Willian were running the show... Saying that I think Brighton played well in parts, just shows that step up in class, a quick few world class passes and flicks and your up the other end the pitched breaking ankles and scoring goals...

He's too much of a drama queen and he's done nothing for us this season. I want him gone.

The 13/14 season where we would have won the league if it wasn't for those injuries to the midfield. Won the FA Cup.

Real rap, Sanchez helped us maintain that status and that's about it. Özil was the real spark.

He's a great footballer, one of the best to play for the club and we thank him but he's not in the same group with bergkamp, Henry, Wright, Pires. His attitude and style of football clashes with the squad and the system.

I'll say it again. He won't be missed.

Breaking: Marco Silva sacked as Watford manager

A statement from the club read: 'Watford Football Club has parted company with Marco Silva. This has been a difficult decision and one not taken lightly.

'The club is convinced the appointment of Silva was the right one and had it not been for the unwarranted approach by a Premier League rival for his services we would have continued to prosper under his leadership.

'The catalyst for this decision is that unwarranted approach, something which the Board believes has seen a significant deterioration in both focus and results to the point where the long-term future of Watford FC has been jeopardised.

'For the security and success of the football club, the Board believes it has to make a change. The Club will seek to make a swift appointment and there will be no further comment until that appointment has been made.'

Joking aside, I think he would get in any Arsenal EPL team, ever...I think if you guys had him in with better Defensive Midfielders and Defenders and players like Henry, Bergkamp, Vieira, Adams, Merson, Parlor, Keonw, Campbell, Cole, Toure, Ljungberg, Cesc, Overmars etc then he would be remembered as one of the Arsenal GOATS as he wouldnt leave and he would of prolly won titles with you...
