COMMUNITY The Master Race (All Things PC Gaming)

One of my other PC's has been giving me problems for a number of years. I've swapped the mobo on it about 3 years ago and it's still problematic. It decides to turn on when it wants to, and I finally got around to dropping a new PSU into it after pilfering the one it had to swap into my DAW machine in my bedroom. Turned the bitch on and it refuses to boot. I'm thinking it's the processor that's been dying a very slow death and it' finally kaput. So, I bought another one for it; a Xeon X3360. Basically it's a Core 2 Quad Q9950 in Xeon clothing. About to pull this thing apart and install it.

Yeah, so I installed this shit and the muhfucka still wouldn't turn on. Started unplugging shit, still ain't on, swapping ram, still ain't on.

Then I looked at the P4 CPU power plug... The shit wasn't all the way in.

That was the problem.

Soooo...what's really causing the prices to skyrocket wit these pc parts?

I wanna start building one this year, but every time I check the prices of the memory cards or the graphic cards for example...my immediate reaction is :yikes2:

It's 100% driven by AI.

They need crazy amounts of RAM as well as GPU's for these data centers powering AI. Jack up the price and sell to OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and every other player in that space and maximize your profit.

I had often wondered if this was feasible, but never put any amount of time into looking into it. Apparently there are now adapters that allow you to use cheaper laptop RAM in your desktops.

I currently have a 3080 ti, which is only about 35% less powerful a 5070 Ti, which is the reason I decided not to upgrade.

That said I'm considering buying one just for the eventuality when mine dies. 😭 They are trying to corral all of us. It's not just PCs, it's everything. They want us all in one system, in debt subscribing to all things were used to be able to purchase for life.
