@konceptjones

What's your experience with buy now on eBay with open box or used stuff.

I see a CPU that's my price point. The seller is 100% with 10,612 ratings. No box. Has a 30 day refund policy, 60 day warranty. Says it was pulled out a PC, never used

🤔

As long as the seller is American I'd cop, especially if they're 100%.

I refuse to buy CPU's from Chinese sellers or any other SE Asian seller. They will take a bullshit cpu and re-etch the heatspreader to look like something better. Got burned like that a while back. I took China out of the equation and I haven't had that as an issue again.

@RandomOne

I don't see your suggestions😒
You said it's a budget PC and so I didn't really have any

Biggest thing I'd suggest is trying to squeeze out and up that ram to 32

Unless you're not planning on playing anything big and don't use anything in the background then I guess you should be fine. Everything eats nowadays. Even browsers taking up a shit load of ram if you got a bunch of windows or tabs up

Got any recs?

I tried adding some ram I had from an older build and my shit would not cut on

I know you're supposed to be able to mix sticks but maybe I did something wrong

I'm getting overwhelmed cause I'm trying to do this and work at the same time

Help ya boy out

I'm trying to keep everything accept the motherboard and CPU. CPU has to have at least 8 cores or up to 12.

After some earlier attempts with parts, I think the power supply might have to be upgraded as well.

Don't have to get the parts from the places listed but I'm just trying to see if I can take the path of least resistance
Intel?

AMD is literally at their peak, right now.

@AP3.0

What's your budget and what are you trying to accomplish?
That second link I posted, I'm trying to keep all my parts except for the CPU and the motherboard

Those two are compatible with everything else I own. Case, power supply, GPU etc...

If I buy both of the aforementioned pieces at the used prices , it's a little over $300

Thoughts

Wait, the first link is my current setup

Edit: the first link is my current setup. The second link is me replacing the mb and CPU

I want something with at least 12 cores

Why 12 cores out of curiosity? What are you trying to do on this computer? Work? Gaming? What’s resolution are you going to be using, btw?

You can go with an AMD CPU/Mobo combo and it would still be compatible with your other components. Do you have a Microcenter near you? They have nice CPU/MOBO combos.

@Golan

I was getting ready to write you out my ABW will until I saw this

Well, I wanna be a nigga with money right now. Currently I can play any game I own at max settings. Ultra not so much but I can go up to Max. It's been a few years since this build and I'm trying to get ahead of the eventual upgrade.

I said a couple of pages ago I'm trying to play the PS3 emulator and I prefer this way over trying to get the console and finding the games. It's really not a deal breaker at all. Just one of those itches to fix some shit that's really not broken to begin with.

Here are the preferred specs for the emulator

@AP3.0

My bad bro, if you were to purchase the parts new? How much would you be willing to spend?

Not the biggest fan of used parts on a primary desktop.

Fr though Iol

My brotha avoiding this thread like the plague lol
Ha he back. Good luck to you on your machine. I deal with IT and I would probably just buy a computer with iption to upgrade components later haha. Good luck

I mean, my current build allows me to do this which is why I'm trying to get the best bang for my buck

Thinking about getting a new laptop. My Chromebook kinda weird cuz it need more memory but I don’t think it can be updated
