Same. I think it was just familiarity and knowing what was coming that took away from it. So nothing against the writers and actors. As you can see from this thread, people not in the know are devastated.

Its kind of like GoT and episode 9. I never read the books and that shit hit me like a truck.
 
I think its different with the games anyway because youre the one doing things. You're choosing actions and all that and more immersed so the stories twists and turns are likely to hit harder as opposed to just watching things happen.

Both are dope.. just different experiences

The episode discourse is funny to me because I feel like there's a weird Mandela Effect going on with people behaving as if 95% of the gaming community wasn't crying foul about the the way Joel's death went down in the game.

Now all of a sudden you have all of these people speaking as if the game version was lauded in overwhelming fashion? Nah, the numbers ain't adding up and the contrarian takes for the sake of contrarianism when it comes to popular media is getting tiring.

I appreciated both iterations and how they were presented for their respective mediums.

I never played the game when I found out they killed Joel off 20min into the game. He was main character and they killed him off that didn't sit well with the gaming community. Then they made you play as Abby fuck that game
