i think its lots of dope female artists and SOME women listen to them......most people just have too much bullshit shoved in their face to notice

I dont think that whole women's beef shit is real without the industry's influence......they've always loved "beef" since they cashed in on pac and big (and still are)

im sure a lot of people want to work together but it doesnt fit the mold or the optics the label wants

how many fake beefs have we seen in the last 5 years or so.....then niggas be friends and go on tour together after they drop albums dissing each other

I just heard that Megan Thee Stallion shit not too long ago and felt like a old ass christian for a second, had to turn the shit off lmao

how are the lil girls supposed to ignore this??? especially when they hear and see young mens reaction to it??

My only rebuttal to that is, while the male hip hop scene is filled with a lot dumb ignant shit, the top dogs have still been lyrical (kendrick, cole, drake (yea he got bars lol), Big Sean, etc. So people still wanna hear lyrical niggas, why don't women wanna hear lyrical women?


I think i know the answer, i'm waiting to see if any of yall say it.
 
Is it really just rap that does this. Look at R&B where there really is only Beyoncé. New chicks step on the scene and they quickly are forgotten.

meh....cole, drake, a big sean rap....i mean they got it....but they're not like the heavyweights of the 90's....I cant say they're worse or better but they're just not the same

and even if women are listening to/supporting more lyrical men (mostly the radio singles and party songs imo), they might not wanna hear all that shit from another woman

Cole and Lupe made albums cleverly roasting niggas for doing drugs......what we do? bang that shit while gettin high lol...cuz its still in the form of what we love

i cant see any top female rapper being able to hit the fans with any kind of accountability or just going against the grain period and having people receive it well....i can see the tweets now "Girl, Bye" lol

This generation's legends being as good as the 80s and 90s legends is it's own thread lol but those niggas are lyrical.

So you're saying women will listen to lyrical men but they won't wanna hear that shit from women? Why tho? They listened to lauryn hill and the others who were doing it.
 
In the beginning the culture was still in the early stages.

When you're creating something the original artists influencers work together.

You had your Queen Latifah MC Lyte Angie Martinez working together.

It wasn't about money or fame. It was about breaking barriers and progessing.

In the 90s the money came and the big budgets came. We saw alot more image and marketing and females lost their way over who can have most sexual image

Honesty, have there ever been a significant amount of females in the game?

I know folks bringing up the 90's, but thru out that whole decade there was, what, 5-6 female rappers even casual fans could name. Latifah, Lyte, L-Boogie, Kim, Foxy and Da Brat.

This ain't a new problem. It's more of an continuing one.
 
Its alot of females in hip hop just not enough at a recognizable level. Rapsody the dopest female rapper out yet she doesnt get the acclaim since she doesnt make the same type of records as nicki and cardi.

Mia X and Gangata Boo never really got hot like a Foxy, Kim, or L-Boogie

Left Eye never sung lol she was just the rapper of the group while the other 2 sung.

Of course I agree hip hop is male dominated but 15-20 chicks to chose from in a decade to now 2? That's a big drop off.

my aunt listened to Lauren religiously......she's like 58

you'd have a TOUGH time finding any women under 30 that want to hear anything Lauren has/had to say today

I really dont think its our age or generation thats mostly buying music anymore...late teens, early 20's have always ran this shit

any young girls listening to drake and cole right now, im gonna go ahead and assume its for the melodic hooks and women/relationship songs

they not really listening bruh

It’s cost too much for record labels to promote Female MC/rappers/ female rap crew ...They’re wardrobe is more expensive than their male counterparts and they generate the least amount of sales collectively.
 
It’s just like tha WNBA compared to tha NBA...hip-hop for all intents and purposes is still a “boy sport”...not saying there aren’t some girls who can really play ball/spit but for tha most part even other women would rather watch/hear a man play ball/spit...and since hip-hop has become such a BIG money maker tha labels are only gonna promote tha women they can sell ie ya Nicki and Cardi types...don’t mean tha good female rappers don’t exist...just gotta search harder on tha net...kinda like turning on TVone and finding a WNBA championship game on lol
