A clarifying comparison is not the same as a direct comparison.

Clarifying comparisons are imperative to creating understanding and that's what occurred in that moment.

They didn't say Cassie's relationship was like slavery. The guys kept pitching the idea that it's a certainty that Cassie wanted everything that happened to her because she kept coming back. So examples of Stockholm syndrome were given, ie. a kidnapped victim going to the store and coming back with correct change, a slave being sent out for an off plantation errand and returning, a battered wife coming back to her husband day after day.

That's the thing though. What you're doing is misunderstanding what the comparison was. It wasn't a comparison made to Cassie's situation. It was to explain the concept of Stockholm syndrome to a room full of cats that seemed to simple minded to wrap their mind around the possibility.

A clarifying comparison isn't to liken thing A to thing B. It's to help make general concepts easier to understand.

The type of comparison it is doesn't matter.

If anybody finds themselves so far gone into this cassie and diddy shit that they start making any form of comparison to black slavery, you need to touch grass.
 
Lol I love my Tri-State brethren but the entire hip hop media circuit skirting around Vaughn’s reply saying it was too long on Diddy like they did on today’s pod is objectively hilarious. Especially in a situation where there’s been response after response after response. To imply that there’s anything wrong with dedicating half of one of multiply response songs to a singe angle is ridiculous.

Diddy shit got everyone in the city feeling uncomfortable.
