What's the criteria for a hiphop legend?

So far in our "Legend or Vet" series, niggas are just voting for rappers they like. Let's see if we can agree on a criteria.

Should all of these attributes be considered?

- Impact/Sales
- Influence
- Quality of Work
- How your projects measured against your peers during the year it was released

To be a legend you just have to have a lasting impact on the culture and the game would be incredibly different without you in addition to your contributions

But it’s fluid

I just picture an awards ceremony for Hiphop all time achievement

Could I imagine Funk flex being there? Yes = legend

Could I imagine Boosie being there? No.

We know few people sticking to the criteria. They're just voting for who they like. And idk if sales should even be counted if we're looking whos a legend.

Too much funny stuff going on with sales. We got people who sold a lot, but it was fast food raps, that was just a cheap imitation of other peoples style that influenced everyone. Then you got people with giant machines behind them that will buy their own records to hype them up.

Personally I dont think people who were the first ones to get a couple hits, in a genre with a lot of artists, doesnt make them a legend.

I dont think Jeezy run was legendary at all, but since yall said he is, then I guess Gucci is also a legend by default too.

I think longevity should also be considered but not a major determining factor.

Some niggas wanna make guys legends just cause they been rapping for 20years

Jeezy is unbiasedly a legend b.

Without Jeezy and Shawty Red

Trap Music dont exist.

There is no Gucci, No Migos, no Yo Gotti, No Future…

No Zaytoven, No Southside, No Metro Boomin…

TIP may have coined the phrase or gave it a name…but Jeezy is the reason it sounds the way it does. Production, Rhyme Schemes and Subject Matter, lingo, hell even fucking ad-libs

He got two classic albums and has continuously made quality music

THATS a legend.

Impact and Influence are the main things for me

Sales should not be part of the equation just like every NBA player with a ring dont make it to the Hall of Fame

Nor should it be about the "quality of work" cause thats always debatable. The first two are not

How much impact can you have without sales?
