We FINALLY got in last night. Unloaded the trailer this morning. I'm fuckin tiiiiired. This move took waaaaaaaaaay too long. Apparently my trailer was overloaded to the point where folks were even surprised we made it past Flagstaff (there's a fucked up climb to 7700+ft). The estimates were around 5000lbs with a couple of folks going as high as 6000lbs. My ride is only rated to pull 3500lbs, and the trailer alone was 1900lbs. Even the slightest incline sent my transmission into hell, trying to downshift to get enough power to maintain speed.
As a testament to Ford's ability to build a truck capable of exceeding it's limits, mine chugged right along even if there were points where we were only moving 20mph 'cause the hills were steep as shit. ~2300 miles pulling way more than it was rated for up and down hills that have no business with a road going straight up them like that and the only thing that went out was the right turn signal 'cause I was driving with the hazards on so damned much.
The best part, however, was watching my kids' reaction to seeing small things like stars in the sky and being so fascinated by it (Vegas has so much light pollution you MIGHT be able to peep 5-6 stars on any given night.)
