I used to be able to play all day and be content, but now my phrasing (basically like cadence and rhythm in rap) and playing is the same old stuff. Been playing since I was 11 so I'm sure I'll pick it back up at some point.

How about expanding to a diff instrument? Stopping completely isn't ideal IMO if u wanna revisit. my memory/skills weren't compromised when I switched instruments but they were when I stopped playing altogether for a few yrs. U cld very well be different but IJS it might be worth keeping a hand in the bag.
