I will probably not have time to see this idea through, so I am going to leave it in y'all hands.
In a certain thread, we saw that disagreement between posters = entertainment.
As a result, I think implementing a team debate system around here will make things interesting. Debates always force some to play the "bad guy".
I am thinking like a mini-tournament setup per-thread. Here are the rules I thought of thus far...

What do you guys think about this idea or the rules in general? Feel free to add or change anything you want.
Let's do some trial runs, then the process can be streamlined even further.

Yay and Nay teams will consist of three posters each. All actual debate posts must be anonymous; therefore, you will not know who is on your team. If you can determine who it is during the debate, then that is okay. However, private communication in regards to the debate is strictly prohibited. Each poster will be assigned a Team Letter and Poster Alias to initially themselves from each other. The debate can last up to 7-rounds. However, the debate can end early if a team concedes defeat.Posters will be eliminated from the team if they lose their round of the debate.Posters must respond in a specified period of time, or forfeit that particular round. At the beginning of the debate, posters from each team will be randomly matched against each other. After the first three rounds are completed, posters will be randomly matched again based on current availability. With a victory in each round, a team can be awarded up to 10 points maximum; however, points can be lost if certain criteria are not met.At the judge's discretion, he or she can demand that the team provide further detail on a point made. A judge usually intervenes if the unanswered point can make the debate more interesting or if the debate lacks energy. The unanswered point can be answered by anyone on the team if it is his or her turn at the time.Posters participating in the debate must...Post as anonymous (Failure: -5 points)Sign the bottom of his or her post with "Team <<insert assigned letter>> - <<insert poster alias>>" (Failure: -2 points)Answer judge's request for further details on point made (Failure: -3 points for each request that goes unanswered)
After the debate is officially completed, then all participants can identify themselves and the thread is opened for discussion to everyone. If a spectator tries to answer the debate questions or answer any points on behalf of a debater, then he or she can be banned. Ban length will be determined by the judge.
Tips for success...
You will have a 12-hour window before the debate to send one PM containing reference links to the debate judge who will forward it to your team on your behalf. Sharing reference links amongst your anonymous teammates will help everyone get on the same page.Broad topics should be avoided.Don't introduce too many facts because it will give opponents more points to debate against you.Don't leave any points that can be questioned because if you get eliminated, then your teammates will be responsible for answering those points at the judge's discretion.
