Welcome To aBlackWeb

Styles P only makes 25k a year from his music catalog Pete Rock co-signs him and both call out SONY

None of us probably dont listen to local radio anymore but his music on that would probably get play in the noon time, with less listeners. But Sirius Xm plays his music. That is what i have. Then you have streams but a lot if artist are not getting fair deals with streaming platforms.

Artists get $0.0001 per stream and around 0.01 per download.

Unless your song is in video games and being played at arenas during sporting events you're probably not generating that much money.

The money is, and always has been, in live performances. I'd imagine before the pandemic Styles P could get an easy $5k per show, maybe triple that.

The best of them low key already work for those companies or can be bought by them.

Dirty game.

This here. I believe Combat Jack talked at lengths about this and why he decided to stop being an entertainment lawyer. They basically help the label rape the fuck outta artists. They represent the artists, but get paid by the labels. MAJOR conflict of interest. Far as the artists letting themselves get fucked. Is a matter of where u at in life and what position you negotiating from. In the mid 90s The Lox are a group from Yonkers, just some young dudes tryinta blow and seeing a bunch of other rappers that are nice and shit is not working out for these other guys and they get hand picked to be on Bad Boy, the Chicago bulls. They know or may not know paperwork does not favor them, but this is Bad Boy and you just wanna get in the game and blow. They not negotiating from a position of power, is more like "you are lucky this opportunity is here"

I think the music industry law should make a law that says if you perform on a song you get an irrevocable percentage that you can sell half of, but the remaining half is non transferable. Because when an artist has a hit record he's drinking fancy champagne and rubbing elbows with celebrities. He/she thinks the fortune and fame will last forever, but alot of those cats are one and done. They might sell their publishing for their best song for $100k, which seems like good money at the time, but after you spend it there's nothing left. God forbid if Milk D sold the publishing to Top Billin.

Who else agrees that an artist should get a certain percent, say $25% if he raps over a beat by a big name producer that samples another song, and he should be able to sell 12.5% but the remaining 12.5% should be non-transferable. Meaning; he can't sell it.

Shyt, he should get himself, Diddy and a rep from Sony in the same room or conference call and straighten that out. If they got the percentages back from Diddy, why is he still getting proceeds from the publishing?

Since diddy gave back the publishing but Sony still sending diddy some of the publishing money. Why doesn't diddy just send that money to Styles and tell sony stop sending him those publishing checks? Why isn't Styles suing sony for what they are doing?

Seems he still locked into that. From what I understand him and diddy came to that agreement which sony doesn't have to honor.

Unless there's something I'm misunderstanding Diddy supposed to be making it right. Seems like he isn't.

Slimeball ass nigga.
