I would disagree. If that is the story, then the story doesnt make sense and its lazy. All they did was use Mike as a self-insert character to introduce a potential deus ex because the duffers are too gunshy to solidly kill off major characters.

This was basically "See? See guys? She may still be alive because there was this whole plan that conveniently happened off screen to fake her death. So she could possibly still be out there. You never know"

Creative writing is a lost form in general these days. 4 years and half a Billy and this what we got? A mid finale to cap off what felt like a filler season? This was cheap and lazy.

He finally got strong enough to break free from feeling everything vecna was feeling and control the power from the connection thats when he broke/ripped one of vecnas arms off.

The mind flayer was the villain until season 4 .It wasn’t named until season 2 but it was behind the events of season 1 . We didn’t know about Vecna

It was the first show that did it with characters you didn't expect. GoT was the first show to be so unapologetically unpredictable with it. Any character could get it no matter how much fans loved them or how intertwined they were in the story. Nobody was safe.

Thats part of what made GoT great but I think some people started expecting all shows to be written in that vain and use it as a plot device because of it.

Its like when you give some dogs a little taste of some real food off your plate and then they don't want to eat regular dog food anymore.
